I got Head.

I got my head today. So tonight i am going to port match it to my intake mani and exhaust mani and install it.
Ill tell you what though, im never going to make this mistake with the Tensioner and timing again.
The head was decked and machined by Pruven Performance and will fit my 6 bolt block. It has a 5 Angle valve job (Can someone please tell me what this entails?).

Re: I got Head.

You aren't supposed to port match the exhaust side. Honestly, unless you really know what you're doing, trying to do port work on the head is a bad idea.

x2 on no porting except for booger clean up. If you don't know what a 5-angle valve job is, why did you pay extra for it?

Re: I got Head.

What turbo do you have? You probably aren't out flowing the stock head specs. I'm in the high 11's with a 50 trim and all I did with my head was clean the cast imperfections up. Quite frankly, i'm sure that was a waste of time. I'm sure it would have went the same numbers without doing what I did. Definately don't touch the exhaust side. I wouldn't even mess with the Intake side either. The bowl work is where much of the horsepower is and if you don't know what you're doing, you can make it worse. You may also run the risk of running the carbide bit across one of the valve seats if you try to do bowl work. NOT GOOD.

I bought the head from a guy in RI that had it already done. I have heard the term before but was just too lazy to google it.

From http://www.alaniztechnologies.com/headterms.html
"MULTI-ANGLE VALVE JOB
A multi angle valve job is the cutting or grinding of 2 or more angles on the seat and valve. The purpose of a multi angle valve job is to improve airflow. By now you have probably heard of 5 angle and radius valve jobs. The truth, this is more applicable in the American iron heads. There just isnt enough material in the small diameter seats or valves to see any real noticeable differences on a flow bench. A .5% gain maybe seen on a flowbench but the flowbench has a plus or minus error factor that has to be eliminated before a true flow figure can be attained. Older American iron heads may benefit from a five angle or radius valve job but only because the head is so bad to begin with. The Honda head is diffrent. Our flowbench testing has proven time after time that the correct angles and angle widths is what is important. More CFM gains have been made through this procedure than applying 5 angles or radiuses."

Re: I got Head.

Ya trust me. You can run 11's without doing that I know... you always think, as long as it's off, I should port it out for more hp, blah blah, but you aren't outflowing stock with just a 50trim. Opening the intake side up would actually make that 50 trim work harder because there is more volume that would have to be made up with air. By looking at your mods list, there's no reason you shouldn't be running deep into the 11's with what you got if you aren't already.

I see you run a SouthBend DXD. I run their DXD OFE clutch with the heavier duty pressue plate. Way better than the ACT2600 that I had without the need for the bionic leg. I will never switch back to ACT.

What's your E.T. goals anyway.

Re: I got Head.

Yeah i love the DXD, it engages so quick i love it. I used to have a 2100 and this one still has a lighter feel. Granted i only got to use the DXD for 24 hours before my timing skipped and I bent 4 valves.
My goal is for the 11s on the 50. After that i need to look for a good daily driver. once i get that, I am going with a GT35R or GT40R and new Injectors, Possibly a new exhaust mani. We shall see.
