Fall/Summer DSM Drive?
I know there has been some talk by a few board members about doing a dsm drive, but I really want to get something organized. I was thinking something like a drive to Red Wing in the fall b/c I like to see the leaves turn colors down in that area, it's beautiful. Plus, I don't know about the rest of you, but I think that scenery would make for some kick ass car pics. I don't know what a central starting place would be though because I know we have board members all over. I'm down for a summer drive too, I just think fall would make for better scenery and cooler temps. Any thoughts?

Re: Fall/Summer DSM Drive?
Fall would actually be awesome! This is a great idea! I may not have a DSM by then, but hey, most of us on here don't haha! I say we hit Rew Wing, stop and take pics and come back. Won't be a very long drive though. Not for me at least; Red Wing really isn't all that far.

Re: Fall/Summer DSM Drive?
Lets get this organized!
Meeting point: Bloomington, MN IKEA parking lot since its so huge and towards the southern end of the Cities
Drive: South along the Mississippi River to Winona and back (it will be about 300 miles round-trip). I have an exact route already planned, I can go into more details later.
Would people prefer this to be later this summer or early fall as the leaves begin to turn? I am fine with either.

Re: Fall/Summer DSM Drive?
That would be sweet to roll out to Cali, but its sooo far!
Anyways, I think what would be cool would be to do one to Red Wing and one to Winona. One in the summer, one in the fall. I would like to wait a little while, but for the Red Wing one, I know of a good parking lot down by my house that is night and big, and would be good for all of us to park in. Any other suggestions?

Re: Fall/Summer DSM Drive?
I hope you do realize we'd pass through Red Wing on the way to Winona. Doing just the drive down to Redwing wouldn't be that great, you really need to get south of Red Wing before the roads start getting fun/nice. I think for the cruise we'd probably actually head from Winona over to LaCrosse, eat some food there, and head up the Wisconsin side of the river for a little bit before it turns boring and we cross back into MN. People call toss out some dates if they want, I am game anytime August - October.

Re: Fall/Summer DSM Drive?
September works. No worries about traffic, this won't exactly be a stop-n-go rush hour drive. If anything, you DSM's better worry about overheating while trying to hang with the S and M in the high-speed twisties This route I have planned is actually great for all types of drivers....you can go slow and enjoy the scenery or you can tear up some tires.

I will most likely take my bike. If your car is gone Tauni you can pile some people in my GTP and take that if you want.

September sounds good, but I'm def. down for two. Maybe we can do a shorter drive sometime soon so we don't have to worry about cars having issues in this summer heat, and then a longer drive like S2kracka is describing to Winona in the fall when it's cooler. The IKEA parking lot is an ideal starting place.. I'm gonna get some of their cookies before we take off
Do you have a map you can post up of the route you have in mind S2kracka?
::EDIT:: I just had another thought; I think it would be pretty cool to get some signs printed out to put on everyone's car (or bike) somewhere that says something like "DSMStyle Summer Cruise '06" Anyone know where we could get some signs made up or printed cheap?
Once we get exact dates figured out I say we should talk to one of the admins and try to make this an "official" DSMStyle event.
