wow, the media blowing stuff out of proportion as usual.
we had an early winter this year. Which generally mean it'll end a tad early.

Did you even read the article? It wasn't about our winter. It was about the changes to the weather pattens in the artic.

Re: Signs of Global Warming
I'm not saying that humans arent affecting the environment, but climate fluctuations are VERY normal.
http://www.niwascience.co.nz/ncc/clivar/variations
I'm getting a job closer to my house so i can bike there during the summer cuz my bike gets 5 million mpg, and i dont have to worry about leaking capacitors on its ecu OR 1st to 2nd grinds

Re: Signs of Global Warming
I agree that climate fluctuations over long periods of time are very normal. Although we are not helping the normal fluctuation. We are pretty much speeding up what is supposed to happen over time on earth?
Winter has been very weird these past 5+ years. I really dont know who to trust on global warming, the scientists that say we are causing ice bergs to melt and all... or the scientists that say fluctuations are normal. I think its a combination of the two together.

I would like to personally thank you for having never done anything to harm the environment. I assume, since you made such a statement, that you have never driven a car, ridden on a bus, turned on a light, used a computer (Obviously your using a solar wind powered machine right now) or anything else to cause even an ounce of harm to the environment. Thanks!
**Edit**
Disclaimer: I am by no means the poster child for being environmentally responsible, I just don't think it's fair to point the finger at one person, or a group of people, for the problems of the world.

Lol. I was about to say, might as well. Look at the irony involved with the name of the topic and the fact that its being posted in the DSM forum.
For those confused with my 'joke' ---> (DSMs drink gas like humans drink water *well, at least mine does* and therefore pollute a shitload)

Re: Signs of Global Warming
We will see a change that alot of people aren't even considering. Ever heard of the "Atlantic Conveyer"? It's the natural flow of Atlantic water currents moving north. Warm water is the upper layer of water which moves north. As it is cooled in the artic region it sinks to the bottom of the ocean and starts moving south again until it reaches warmer climate, raises in temperature which then makes it leave the bottom of the ocean and become the top layer moving north again. As warm water (which brings warm air) reaches the northern hemisphere, ice/glaciers melt and dump water into the Atlantic Ocean. Global warming only adds to the effect. You say "So, what's the big deal with that?" Here's the big deal with that, inland ice that form glaciers is made from rain/fresh water, not sea water. So when this fresh water hits the Atlantic Ocean in large quantities as it will be doing soon, it disrupts the "Atlantic Conveyer" flow. This slows/stops warm water from moving north through the Atlantic. Since warm air/water stop moving north, it gets colder. This is actually how an "Ice-age" gets started. It could only take 10 years of this to completely stop the "conveyer", but 100 years to get it started again.

Re: Signs of Global Warming
Mark, If i could have made the choice to take a hydrogen powered ambulance to the hospital to get born i would have. honestly. lol. But we all know there wasnt any "hydrogen powered ambulances" back in 1988. thats right im 18. anyways. I havent had much of a choice in means of transportation i mean diesel, gas, or bike pedal. Its been 200 years since the dawn of the internal combustion engine and 100 since gasoline powered engines. It took us 9 years to land a man on the moon but 105 to make a mass produced transportation vehicle that doesnt run on gasoline alone?(insight or prius?) Granted emissions are way lower than what they used to be with the ulevs and near zero vehicles. I just don't think the generations before me really did all they could for the future generations. And they aren't doing much now either. So i guess you're right in a way, why am i bitching about it when i should be saving the planet. Let me go get my suit...

Re: Signs of Global Warming
Yeah, because the large oil companies aren't spending billions a year in alternative-fuel research...oh wait! Why exactly are you on a DSM board instead of a Civic board?
