Re: beaterX project thread
That really sucks! It sounds like no damage was done though.

Re: beaterX project thread
Put on about 100 miles this weekend, no problems! Thank god! My fingers are still crossed but everything seems fine. Now to clean up the oil all over my engine bay and undercarriage.

Glad all is well, very scary seeing a low oil light alarm! Good fast reactions. That is why I have a prosport that has a visible and an obnoxious audible alarm.

Re: beaterX project thread
I remember back after swapping the 16G onto my old Talon that I had a very oily undercarriage from the initially leaky return. First time it rained it got nice and clean.

Re: beaterX project thread
Hrm, lookee what landed on my work bench this evening
These pics do not do this manifold justice--it is smooth and SO SEXY on the inside!
This is MAP's Rev3 port job. They cut open the plenum for maximum awesomeness of the port job, then weld it back together. Only thing I'm a little disappointed about, I was hoping to strap on a 64mm throttle body to this some day and ummmm yea. Hopefully my caliper is off (but I doubt it), it's just a cheapy.
The inlet is opened up to only about 62mm I spoke with MAP and they assured me it would fit with a 64 so idk...my tools are not that accurate but whatever....I'll deal with that down the road.
Here's the stock TB, only about 60mm:
Quick rip around teh block and the car is leaning out almost a full point--that's a good sign I think

Re: beaterX project thread
Sweet!
I am jealous for sure, I want to see what kind of gains you see if any. People have said the IM and TB aren't really bottle necks on the X's, I hope you see something...it will give me a mod to do next.

The stock X TB is smaller than the stock IX TB, it is the smallest diameter opening of the entire intake track between the turbo outlet and intake manifold inlet.
You saw the results my friend gained by just adding the ported TB to his MR-T w/Green I think.

Oh I am not saying there aren't gains, its just a lot of people with bigger turbos haven't posted a ton of info on them yet.
AMS has said before they think the intake mani is very good factory and isn't worth upgrading. However, I doubt there is no room for improvement.
Post up a before/after in Virtual Dyno Scheides, when you get AFR's in line!

That's cool that it's noticeable on the gauge! Any seat-o-the-pants gains?

Re: beaterX project thread
I bet if you used nitrous and had a backfire that piece they cut open would put a nice dent in your wirewall.
Looks cool and hopefully you pick up some gains with it!

Nitrous expansion plate ftw!
I'd actually put a nice hole in my radiator, it's in the front

Most of the time a nitrous backfire will blow up an intake manifold anyway....
Chris,
Are you using a software like Virtual Dyno? You should look into something like that as you seem to make parts changes a lot and it can get expensive running to the dyno all the time (plus I know you street tune).

Re: beaterX project thread
Very awesome! The Rev3 did good things on my IX, and I know my basic ported IM/TB combo showed great gains on my X!
