The police officer hating has to stop. Sure there are crooked officers, there are crooked EVERYTHINGS in every profession, most of the time they are just trying to do there job. IMO is a very stressful and dangerous job, and most of the time im grateful that they are there. I've had my fair share of tickets, and I do complain, but then all the times i've been let off, or helped by a police officer make up for it. If you play the street racing game, your days are numbered, plain and simple. Until a track gets open in minnesota metropolitian area, it will always remain this way. Then im sure people will still street race because they 'cant afford the track, can't go when its open, the track isn't open enough, street racing is more badass, just fill in the blank'.

NO NO Josh, it's ok... I LOVE the stories:

No one ever has any first hand stories like Tom,
it's always just: "My buddies dad", or "This one guy I used to know".

I sit back and realized that sometimes you may get pulled over for something you may not have realized you were doing, but all you dumbasses who say that cops pull people over for no reason are wrong. Forget trying to screw you into a ticket, everytime the lights go on, I can't think of ANY officer I've met that won't call out traffic (meaning he calls dispatch to tell them he's on traffic.) And every time you use your computer (MDT) to run a plate, dispatch sees it anyway. It's an officer safety thing. I don't know you from shit, and if you're going to shoot at me, I'm the one going home tonight, NOT you.

And if it's found an officer is making bad traffic stops, he is usually put on probation during an investigation, at which time he's usually fired. I've only seen it happen twice. I don't doubt it happens, but I do doubt it happens as much as everyone says it does. "Illegal Paint???" Come on....

You're bitching to the wrong crowd. The Police Supervisor and Internal affairs cares, Not us.

BTW, I'd say over 75% of departments around here use onboard dash cameras, which are all digitally archived and reviewed by supervisors...

You dont kill people for just sticking their hands in their pocket to grab some i.d. or anything unharmful. Like that black kid who got killed when he was unarmed. The cops always get away with murder or breaking laws...wtf.
But there are those really cool cops out there, but thats rare to find in this city.
You want me to explain that to you so you KNOW what happened now??

The "BLACK" kid who "didn't" have a gun actually "did" have a gun. He was running from Police with a gun in his hand. When he was out of police sight, he dropped the gun. Seconds later, he reappeared with his back to officers, at which time he turned around quickly with something in his hands, which wasn't a gun, but officers assumed was due to the fact that seconds later they had seen him with a gun in the same hand. They opened fire. Now... I see this as: 1) Don't run from the cops if you didn't do anything wrong 2) Don't run from the cops if you didn't do anything wrong. 3) For God Sakes, if the cops have seen you with a gun, but you threw it away, but still have something in your hands, and you quick turn at an officer, he's gonna shoot the hell outta you.

I will admit that he "IN THIS INSTANCE" could have gambled on his life and won, and not shot the kid at the same time. But if it's shoot or be shot at, You would be lying if you said you'd take a bullet to save some random life who was threatening others and was deemed to be carrying a gun. Not me.

Just like it's my fault that you guys street race and we are forced to make arrests and give tickets. Like it's no big deal. Well it is. It pisses people off, and we're here to serve the people.

Put your damn front license plate on, buy yourself a scanner, a radar detector, quit speeding, and get your "Buddy who knows this one guy who used to be a cop" to sit at the end of the block and watch for cops. And if you still get tickets, then it's your own damn fault.

Im with JDM. Ive never been pulled over yet and Ive been driving for over 4 years so far.... I drive where everyone else does too and I speed most of the time but I am carefull and respect laws... I have a front plate and I dont street race so the Police must be pulling people over for the right reasons.

Im not a fan of most cops but there have been a few that are decent. My problem is most are on a powertrip. Another Evo owner in Wi got a ticket for obsruction of rear view vision because of his STOCK spoiler. Figure that one out. The judge ruled against the defense (Said the cop was right). So its not just cops that are corrupt.. judges too. Funny thing is you only need a mirror on each side of the car if you have NO rear vision (Like a cargo van). He is having to appeal the courts decision to an appolate court. Figure that out.
The police officer hating has to stop.QUOTE]

I agree. The police can be very helpful at times, but there are always those complete opposites.
I didnt mean to piss anyone (JDM) off or anything...I just heard the wrong story of that kid being shot so thats what I went with. I get a little carried away sometimes..haha.

Back to the main topic...
For everyone who was there watching and got their names and license plate taken down. What do they do with all the info from the 400 cars that were there? Are they putting it into some sort of computer for future references?

They record names and LP#'s, run everything for warrants, and frequency (how many times these plates are recorded).

This is what you can expect next year:

Tracking VIN's on Engines for stolen hits (make sure you Honda boys buy a clean motor next year, or it becomes property of the SPPD, and you can buy it back at next years auction)

MODS: Make sure ALL of your parts have DOT legal stamps on them, or lose em' and your car. YOU WILL LOSE YOUR CAR NEXT YEAR IF YOU HAVE ILLEGAL MODS....

They're passing legislation in certain jurusdictions on PARTICIPATING in street races. This includes being there to watch...

Reporting mods and participation (see above) to insurance companies. If you're there, and you get a ticket for spectating, rest assured that your insurance company will know by next week.

I'm not saying that street racing is a bad thing, but it's definately wrong by definition. By participating in it, you are breaking the law. Plain and simple. I'm sorry that you guys get cops on power trips. Typically they lay into younger kids because in MY experience, I get A LOT of lip from people under the age of 25 AS A RULE... I'm not much for small talk either. I'm there to do a job. If I get called to bust racing, I'm gonna write tickets, and I'm not gonna stick around to shoot the shit. And if you throw me enough lip, or try to fight, you might find yourself washing pepper mace out of your eyes when you get home from jail... But as a rule, I could care less what the hell you do with your cars as long as you aren't hurting anyone. Just keep in mind that you're still breaking the law...

We stopped 2 Mustangs and an Old Firebird for racing on 280. Saint Paul's big beef with racing is the gangs and stolen parts. When was the last time an asian gang stole a 350 Small block??

How extensively will this DOT stuff be taken? Is that mainly for taillights and clear corners or what?

Yea are they going to crawl under my car and look for a DOT sticker on my exhaust? Or like other engine parts? Or rip apart my headlights to get to my non DOT H4 bulbs?

That is the main Asian bracket!!! Don't you know. The only drive Honda/Toyota/Mitsu/Ect to throw you off of their evil plan to steal all of the 350's. Once they have them all they will bring out thier muscle cars and school every one with 4 bangers. Which will be everyone, because they will have all the 350's! I heard it already happened as close as Chicago. SO watch yourself.

Just remember boys respect your rights, dont open your hood until a search warrent is issued. and before JDM replies with "they can search if they have resonable suspicion" yes they can but they need to list each item they are looking for and if they find more they cant charge you for it, same thing if they search your car and find drugs, if they didnt state EXACTLY what they were looking for then the charges will be dismissed in a court of law.

Everytime I go to a thread about Cops, and i see that Tom is the last to reply, I think to myself everytime "This should be interesting"

DOT legal tail lights (the emblem is on the lense), DOT tint regulations, catalytic converters, Reasonable db levels for exhaust, colored bulbs (which ARE NOT legal in MN, I don't care what your "dad's buddy" said), neon, loud stereo, shit like that...

Here ya go Tom... Strait from the Horses' mouth

The fourth type of exception is the administrative searches and inspections exception. These are warrantless searches by government investigators determining whether government rules and regulations have been broken (Federal Emissions Regulations, Federal Lighting Restrictions, State and Local Environment laws, Equipment violations, Illegal or unsafe or non properly installed equipment). The police do not typically conduct these searches. However, there are stipulations with this exception such as health, SAFETY, or other inspectors may not go onto private property without either consent or a search warrant, this also applies to the search of commercial structures not used as private residences. However, searches of highly regulated businesses do not need a warrant or probable cause.

The fifth and sixth exceptions are the stop and frisk exception, and the motor vehicle exception. The stop and frisk exception must carry reasonable suspicion and the frisk cannot go beyond a pat down. The motor vehicle exception simply states when a vehicle is pulled over and the police officer has probable cause, he/she may search the vehicle, but within reason.

You have the right to refuse consent, but if the officer has probable cause, the search can still be conducted, and the officers conduct and reasoning shall be decided and judged upon in court, rather than risking obstruction and resisting charges upon arrest.

Go ahead and ask me about my search warrant, and I'll give you two more pieces of paper for you to bring to your court date.

You don't win against cops by taking them head on, Tom, you win in court.

I would've still lost in court...but it was my word against her word and my chances were "small" because she was a cop and I am just a teenager. So I took the one-year probation, which kinda sucks. Oh yeah...JDM, if I took that one-year probation deal...is my traffic violation on my record as of right now? (I'm still a little angry at that cop lady, she told me one thing...but didnt write it down on her sheet and then she changed her story. Why dont they make us write down our side of the story at the time we get pulled over? That way, the story cant be so easily changed.)

Sorry, this has gone waaayyyy off the topic. If you want to start another new topic about cops/laws, go for it. This one's being closed down before it gets to out of hand. Sorry.
