Re: E85
I guess I should have asked what A/F ratio stoich was for E85 as I've heard everything from 9.7:1 to 10.5:1. Not that a wideband cares, it was more for my curiosity.
Shane, can I ask what A/F you were shooting for at WOT on the E85 honda?

Re: E85
I am fully aware of the risk, and if it corrodes throught my stock fuel line, I shall just run a new SS one..... thank you tim for clearing up the methanol/ethanol differences.
So, -IF- i was gonna do this, would a SAFC1/2 work? from what I can remember you can load up 2 different fuel maps, depending on what fuel you are running.
So, is it that easy? just a safc re-tune?
one additional point, as I understand it, there is alot of clay and other anti-engine sediments in standard gasoline, and ethanol has (almost) none.....so engine wear is going to be cut way back......I spose nobody cares here because we rebuild our engines periodically anyways

Re: E85
Along with an SAFC you'll need injectors, i'd go 650+ since you'll have the safc to control them, 190 or larger to help get the extra fuel you'll need.
With that you'll be running ethanol in your car, and just have to wait for the lines to corode away. If they do that is, havn't found solid proof it will. Only speculation and proof that alcohol does.

Re: E85
Does E85 not ignite like gasoline? Replacing a fuel line is one thing, but what if your car starts on fire before you notice you have a problem?

Re: E85
First off, if your car starts on fire, you probably have a gas leak somewhere.
As long as your not like me, and forget to plug in your fuel rail, you'll be perfectly fine.

Re: E85
I was too, but I would rather have it running now than waiting to get the conversion done and having to pay for it all.

Re: E85
I have some 1600cc injectors on order. I'll let you know how it goes.
It was going pretty good for Jim (TalonFiero) and the curiosity finally got to me so I'm going to see if it allows me to run more boost in my Talon.

Re: E85
Do you need injectors that big? Or would 550's work?

I'm running a 2.4 with a 50 trim and I use DSMLink so I figured why not. 780's weren't cutting it.
550's may work on a stock car running stock boost.
When picking an injector size you'll also need to determine wether you're going to run straight E85 or a mix.

Re: E85
E85 requires a lot more fuel flow, so you need much bigger than normal injectors and a fuel pump(s) to back it.

Re: E85
I need to start looking into this as an option for the Jeep. That big V8 drinks like a fish.

Why? Worse mileage means more spent at the pumps.

Re: E85
So has anyone had a long running E-85 mix going? I'm thinking of running a galon or so in the next tank on the new car to see if it hurts any. That small of an amount i don't think will be very noticable or cause massive problems... even in a DSM.
