Re: Toms Project...
well its still not fully together yet. two late starts because of picking up parts and wrong parts and being much over budget. But oh well. I have to redo my upper intercooler piping because of the throttle body. I could have just switched back to the stock one but it puts a kink in that shitty stock flex pipe. I would rather do it right the first time.
So i am moving my goal to having it done by monday.

Looking good. I'm sure you're getting excited to get it done. Just don't rush yourself in the end because that's when I always make mistakes. And they usually end up being really expensive mistakes. Looking good though!

Re: Toms Project...
Its running fucking awesome. Its like a whole new car. Im going on tuesday to RRE to get her tuned. The 6puck took a bit to get used to, it engages fast, and its much lighter then the ACT. The tranny shifts fast and hard, i can slam it into gears as fast as i want and she just takes it.
Already got pulled over in her. But thank GOD they didnt pop the hood, or it would have been gone for sure. they actually didnt even give me a ticket. They pulled me over for a license plate light being out. They saw the laptop hooked up and said these exact words...
"Is this your laptop?"
"Yeah"
"Why is it hooked up to your car?"
"Its for fuel management."
"Whats that? im not into all that"
"It allows me to log and tune my car."
"Ahh like on the fast and the furious"
I almost shit my pants and bit my lip as i replied.
"Yeah like the fast and the furious"
then another cop said to the other.
"Look hes got modified exhaust"
"Yeah hes also got his car hooked up to a laptop like the fast and the furious"
I could have punched both of them right then and there, but i got off with no ticket. and they didnt pop my hood. so i almost cried.

Re: Toms Project...
Hahaha, dude that's hilarious. Glad they didn't pop your hood man. I didn't know cars could be towed away for having modified engines.
Crazy laws in California.

LOL that is way too funny! Glad its up and running! Break in that clutch and tranny and change the fluid again after a couple hundred miles before you beat on it too much.

Re: Toms Project...
I don't think puck clutches need a break-in (some don't at least), but changing the fluid out after a few hundred miles is a good idea. Are you running the Redline cocktail?

You don't get towed away. lol you get a moddified emmissions ticket for anything without a carb legal decal on it aka executive order number. Then you have to take all your non carb legal parts off and take your ride to the CA state referee... Lot's off money. I had to go through all this with my RS. Tom would have been towed away because he did not have valid registration and they could have given him a ref ticket and possibly another ticket for taking off his plates.
Anyways: Glad to see the car last night running. PS it looked meaner without the front bumper and hood...

Yeah i dont think they need a break in because of the kevlar side supposedly will never lose its form no matter how hot it gets. (at least thats what the video said with the interview of the fidanza guy on streetfire.) So i would think the clutch wouldnt need to be broken in. I have only made a couple pulls to make sure shes running good. but other then that i have been trying to baby it as much as possible.
Yes i am running the Redline Cocktail - 2 Parts MT-90 1 part MTL.
As far as the plates go. Yeah i took off the plate and put a dealer plate on, my registration is expired (very much so) because i have to get it illegally smogged just so it can pass. But if i would have been in the same situation i would have gotten pulled over for no reg and then would have gotten a ticket. so it seems that the dealer plate worked. Im getting registered this week.

They would have impounded the car and not release it to you until you get the registration and pay the inpound lot fee ($ each day)... This happened to me May 12th 2006 my registration expired in November... Just think about it your registration if I remember correct is April 2006 LoL!!! Lucky guy! I'm gonna start calling you Paul Walker! When you got pulled over did you slam your lap top shut and yell Sh*t? Lmao.. see you tonight..
