From the sounds of it it is a possibility. It has happened quicker than that to other rebuilt and built 7 bolts.

he told me when I called him his car just randomly shut off driving down the highway and he check he has good fuel pressure, but no spark he then unpluged his crank possition sensor and pluged in his cam angle snesor and bam it started right up...im hopeing some bad wireing or a bad sensor...and also driving his car for a prolonged period of time he literally has to pump up the clutch to get it to work right. So Like I said I hope its just bad wireing and maybe that damn gay filter running from the clutch line to the slave went bad or maybe a master cylinder.... So we will see. All I told him was not to jump to conclutions to fast. That motor should be just bullet proof I watched mike build a good chunk of it and he for sure did nothing wrong accually if I were to have someone build my motor other then myself it would be mike! no doubt. anyways Well time will tell.

Thanks a lot guys for the ticket! I had a great time at BIR. Never experienced such a thing before in my life. If you were at ground level when a Top fuel car would go by you would get this shaking/motion blur thing. It was insane!
Man I hope I hear different about Carey's motor. hmy:

I am not going to guess about the condition of his motor just for the fact that CW is the first assumption that will be on everyones mind because it is a 7 bolt. The bottom end of that thing has had every precaution to avoid that possible including the following - Mains were align bored/honed with the torque plate in place - ARP mains were used with the CRCO dowel kit, every detail was double and tripple checked. Every burr removed, every spec checked and found on the tight side of the tollerence. The lack of squirters would have nothing to do with the potential for CW since they are not there, they couldn't stick open. Also, the front balance shaft was removed, oil passages drilled, tapped and pipe plugged. Rear balance shaft was replace with one of our turned down versions. So, if this thing crankwalked, I highly suggest no one ever spends the money on building another 7 bolt. Like I said in the beginning though, I wouldn't jump to any conclusions yet, there was a lot of modded wiring on that car that could very well be responsible.
Thanks for the comments Kevin
It was fun to have Jim and Ryan with us this weekend. Jim is a riot after 5 or 6 beers. Now if you could just keep him from "setting his clutch" continuously, life would be all good and the air would be cleaner.

I sat and talked to Russ Coxe a bit this weekend. He runs 9's on 7-bolts and only 7-bolts go in his car. He did lose a rod bearing at the SO, but doesn't have CW issues. Granted he runs an automatic, but if built right, the 7-bolts are stronger than most people think.

I would just like to know what else could have been done to prevent it in Chris's case. This just baffles me, I know the block and crank are made from a looser grained iron, but seriously, what else could cause have caused it? Any ideas are appreciated. I didn't warranty this one against CW just because the record they have, however we won't leave Chris out on this one. One way or another A, we will figure out what caused it exactly and B, fix it if possible or at least help him with a 6 Bolt. At any rate, I wouldn't recommend anyone put any significant amount of money into a 7 bolt for exactly this reason.

ACT 2900?
I'm too scared to put in my 2600. Right now I'm running a stock pressure plate and am not sure what I'll do when it craps out. Same motor, 4G64 7 bolt but with OEM bearings (ended up using 3 different sizes as per the manual/ouija board) and OEM main bolts. I've sent two samples of oil to Blackstone labs (one at 500 miles and the other at 3000) and so far so good, but I still have zero confidence in the motor. Even less now.

Does Chris have a clutch switch bypass? This has been found as a major cause with a big clutch.
