Re: Picked Up Another Project (RB S14)
i did my last 2g flat black (using spray cans WOOT), it came out ok, but i never cleaned it because i was scared of how it would turn out. Once oil gets on there its a bitch to clean.

Re: Picked Up Another Project (RB S14)
If you are having it professionally done, I think satin panda cars look sexy as hell: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/a...ite-viper.html
I think you would just use regular white paint with a satin/low gloss clear coat, correct? I wouldn't just use flat white paint without clear.

Re: Picked Up Another Project (RB S14)
correct. that wrap looks awesome i should have considered that. but i am going with painting it. and i would spray the car with a flat white then use a flat, or like you said, low gloss clear coat for sure. the problem is cleaning it. once you rub/ wax/buff it. it leaves scratches or shiny spots no matter what. correct me if im wrong.

Nothing is unique with 240s. May as well paint it a nice color, like black.

Re: Picked Up Another Project (RB S14)
Maybe I am getting old but I think the flats look too cheap on eclipses, 240s, rx7, the old 1990 gens. Too rat rodish. I don't think you are going for a rat rod look. It works on expensive cars because... well they are expensive no matter what you do to them.
I think if you put your time in with a good paint job it will look 100% clean especially if you are going for white.
Edit: you will have to paint the engine bay as well

Re: Picked Up Another Project (RB S14)
Flat black on a 240 is so 2002-2003. The Twin Cities was crawling with them back then and every one of those guys thought the were the only ones with a flat black 240. Tintmasters has a flat black RX7 that looks cool, but flat paint jobs are a nightmare to try to keep looking decent. I would do it a on a track only car.

Re: Picked Up Another Project (RB S14)
I would never do a flat white. That shit is sooo hard to keep clean. A car wash would never take all the dirt off so it would need to be hand washed every time

Re: Picked Up Another Project (RB S14)
right thats exactly what i was thinking. yeah fuck going flat. i think ill just go with white. i donno something about white that just makes the car pop. especially if the cars body is straight.

Re: Picked Up Another Project (RB S14)
here is a little update, body work is nearly done. interior is completely cleaned up. engine bay needed a lot of tlc so i cleaned up everything that was there for no particular reason. did some re wiring, re routing, and re "vacumming". shaved valve cover(s), spark plug cover, shaved, ported and polished intake manifold, de ziptied everything, re fabricated the front bumper, and a bunch of other odds and ends.
