Re: What offset?

With 2g DSMs, you can most likely get away with a 18x9 +30 is offset and still run a 245 or 255 or so with it sticking out/being flush just barely unless you mega dump the car, then you'll have to set the camber a little negative. I know ther eare some road racers that run kind-of aggressive offsets on 2gs with wide wheels. You can't really compare 1g's to 2gs, 1g's are wierd.

Here's a 2g with 17x9 +25 with 225's (I don't think DSMs can pull off the stretched tire look, but this car could probably pull off a 245 and it'd look way normal-non-stretched-this wheel/tire setup doesn't even look stretched much at all) - and just for reference I have a 235 on a 9.5" wheel and it doesn't look stretched at all...

This is something else I found that is interesting.... (taken from a post on t0oners)

I found that out by a post of someone who had both a 2ga and 2gb and was trying to swap setups on the cars. There was something different about the control arms between the two.
"The curved part of the spindle/knuckle that curves up to the upper control arm is the only part with clearancing issues. The difference between the 2ga and 2gb ones is about 3mm. I bought my current wheel setup (255/45/17 on 17x9 +35) and after getting a 2ga donor car for my AWD swap realized they just barely hit. I tested them out on my friends 2gb and they fit, but just barely. I swapped the 2gb spindles onto my car and they have been fine. Here is a picture of the test fit."

So in conclusion, IMO, if it was my car, i'd run a 17x9 +30ish offset and you would be fine with a wider 245/255 tire AND an aggressive stance along with better handling.

Re: What offset?

Wow thanks for that input.. that was a lot of knowledge. I didn't know there was a difference on 2ga and 2gb..

Re: What offset?

Well what about us 1g people. Anyone have any suggestions for me wanting a 17x8 and a 245 tire? If I have to, I'd do a 235. I thought +40 would be just right. I have coilovers also. Not trying to jack the thread.

Re: What offset?

Kevin, If you wanna run a 17x8 +40, (that's what the 3s wheels I had on my car today are) you would need a mild spacer on the back wheels, otherwise the inner lip of the wheel will hit the lower control arm.

I don't think there would be any issues with a 245 over a 235, other than they would stick out just a little farther.
