Re: The Voy project - ridin' durtay
Andrew, I tinted the upper half of them, because the upper half was the red reflector. I left the white part untinted because that's the reverse lights, not a reflector.
The black grill, meh, I don't think I like that. I want to get more of a chrome grill. Also remove the orange turn signal reflectors. I don't want it completely blacked out, I want some contrast. I like how the bright chrome looks on the front, so I'm going to go that route. With the orange removed, and a chrome grill, I think they look real nice.
Here's some examples of other guys with various chrome grills:
(this one is one of my favorite Envoys. I'm getting running boards similar to these, but paint matched my color. This is called the Bentvoy grill)
This is the grill I really want, but problem is it's like $250 for the top and bottom inserts which is kinda crack money. It's the Street Scene grill
OEM Denali grill
OEM Chrome grill

Re: The Voy project - ridin' durtay
I just seen one of these nice rides yesterday and it was black with chrome 20 or 22" rims and a lowering kit so there was even wheel gap all around the wheel and it looked real real bad ass so you better drop it just a little!

The only drop it'll be getting is the one that will be induced when the boat is hooked up to the hitch!

New Weather Tech All-Weather custom fitted floormats came in. They fit just like OEM, and should hopefully save the carpet and stock carpet mats from the nasty salt and what not!

Re: The Voy project - ridin' durtay
And apparently the Denali running boards are redonkulously expensive to buy from the dealer (I've hear around $2000), and very tough to find used or in junk yards. So I just ordered up a set of these from wingzexpress. They look very similar to the Denali ones, but 1/4 of the price, and they come painted to match the truck
Here's an example of what they look like on a Trailblazer

Re: The Voy project - ridin' durtay
I spent plenty of time considering all my options. I decided against the digitals because they don't have grooves like these do. I like the grooves because it kind of traps the water and what not down in there, keeping it captured and keeping my feet out of it. The digitals are fairly flat, so water can roll around, and your feet are still in the water.
That's why I chose the All-Weather ones. The digitals do look nice, but they weren't exactly what I wanted 'function' wise.

very nice! lovin the black on black rear lights. There's a alot of Envoy's that come in with "smoked" rear lights.

Re: The Voy project - ridin' durtay
Well my new running boards came in the mail. Will be installing them later on tonight. But here's some pics of what they look like out of the box. They come already painted to match your truck. It's hard to tell, but they are painted the Charcoal Metallic color of my truck. Can't wait to get em on!!
Also, a new set of headlight housings showed up as well. And I ordered up some Projectors that should be here next week, and I will be 'retrofitting' them into the new housings. And then will be installing HID's onto in with one of the kits from Primo's group buy.
And last but not least, bought a stupid little hitch plug thing to hopefully prevent the inside of my hitch receiver from rusting out.

Re: The Voy project - ridin' durtay
You should do a write up on the retro-fitting, I would like to try something like that some day with my 1gb

Re: The Voy project - ridin' durtay
This retrofit should be extremely simple because I bought projectors specifically meant for retrofitting. So it "should" be a fairly quick and easy install. I checked my tracking, and it appears the projectors are at the St. Paul post office. So probably be delivered to my doorstep tomorrow.
I got my new OEM 'style' donor housings off ebay a couple days ago. They look great. Decided to pop them open today. Removed the orange reflector. Right now I'm not completely sure yet if I'm going to leave the orange piece off completely, or just tint the orange piece and put it back in tinted. We will see.

Re: The Voy project - ridin' durtay
I would say leave the orange reflector in them to give it a little color.

Re: The Voy project - ridin' durtay
If I leave it in, it will probably be tinted, not remain bright orange like it is.

That would look better than leaving them out. Can't wait to see progress.
