The reason i never faught any of mine is because the horror stories i heard from a few ppl at my old work. One guy i remember said he went in to fight the ticket, and said it wasnt that big a deal cause it was 10 over. Then the judge basically took that as him not being serious about it and suspended his lisence for a few months...better safe than sorry imo

What do you mean what ever time my ticket says? Don't you have to call up to schedule it?

All depends on how they do it. Every county or city is different. There should be a number to call. Give it a week and then call the number. They should give you the scheduled time then. Don't call too soon, because the cop may not have filed the ticket yet. I've had tickets where the date and time to appear was right on the ticket. Other times they tell you to call a number after a week or so.

good luck,
Curt

Now where is tom when we need him? lol Well I don't really want to give you advice one way or another cause I say do whatever you feel best about doing and also cause I have never been in your situation.

Also your rims look stock from the pic so am I missing something about them?

You can still be fined for the ticket even if the cop doesn't show. They got rid of that rule. Too many people were getting outta too many good tickets because the pig wouldn't show up. And as far as I know, a cop can't ticket you for a 'assumption.' That's bullshit. He has to have you clocked, and fine you for the exact amount over.

Yeah I am going to court for sure.

They also cannot approach you like he did without lights on doing well over the speed limit unless it is an emergency.

Don't speed. You're fucked. If you do go to court...

1) Learn the lingo, and how to testify
2) Pray the cop gets in an accident, or called out on your court date
3) Don't be a smart ass, but don't admit to any wrong doing
4) Don't say "I don't know" or things like that, say "I cannot speak to that at this time" and shit like that.

This speeding ticket might fuck you square in the pooper, but to a cop, another day, another dollar, and I can guarantee you a judge gives 2 shits about a kid in a foreign car.

Profiling isn't your fault. Like I said before, blame it on the fuckers doing burnouts in parking lots. That's what most cops think of us.

And don't speed. and if you do, don't get caught. :razz2:

I'm a reserve officer, and I approach cars moving without headlights during safe and sober stings, and as well as juvenile DUI stops. And if he deems you a danger to other drivers, he can drive as fast as he wants. Plus you were speeding. Tom got a "general speeding" violation one day in St Paul (after I smoked his ass).

You people shit on cops too much. I'll quote a quote from DSMLife.com

"If you don't like cops, then the next time you need help, don't call 911. Call a drinking buddy, I bet he'll be there"

And you wanna talk racial profiling???

don't get me started :censored:

I actually read in the paper about a cop who went after someone without their lights on at about 85 mph and ended up killing a woman because she didnt see him coming around a corner. The problem with that is that was his 3rd accident doing the same thing. He's no longer a cop, but should have had more than a slap on the hand the first accident.

Now that's a fair argument. I don't "pursue" people without headlights. I may sneak up on a car, but if they run, it's done. Plus there's some documentation here. You're not just bashing cops in general. I agree, that should be 2nd or 3rd Degree Vehicluar Homicide. I'm just sick of hearing about how cops suck because one cop may have made a bad stop. That's like saying Arab people suck becasue of Saddam, or German people because of Hitler. Thank you for respectfully arguing (sp) your point.

Well, if you are a cop and can't take the heat of people not liking you, find a new job! Any job where you work for the government people will always be saying shit. I never said I hate cops, I hate how they take advantage of the public with speeding tickets though. On the ticket the whole thing is about how I could be a pussy and send in my well earned $130 to this address, or call on the phone with my CC number. Nowhere does it mention how to fight the ticket. I love the work cops do, and I have even thought about becomming one.

"I'm just sick of hearing about how cops suck because one cop may have made a bad
stop." I am not sure if this statement is directed towards me. If it is not completely ignore this. I hate when people assume things like this. Where did I say that cops suck? I realize this is probably a generic defense statement that you might shoot out to anyone talking about police, but it really does not apply in this case.

Besides, if no one ever faught the system what would happen?

Danke.

I hear ya. I've been where you are, and I stopped speeding. Tickets are there to pay for roads. If you didn't get a ticket to pay for roads, then all of the others on this forum who aren't speeding would have 3% more taken out of their pay checks, your license would cost $50, and you'd pay an extra $1 for beer at bars.

Like I said before...it goes both ways.

If you can't pay the fine, don't do the crime!

You admitted you were speeding, so why the hell do you have a problem with getting a ticket? You were completely in the wrong.

From the information I provided would you be able to convict me without a reasonable doubt? Maybe, but he had less than I even gave to you. Now if he had clocked me with one of those new fancy lasers, I woulda called the 800 number with card in my hand and paid it right when I got home.

I got a speeding ticket on 36th last summer and I dealt with it. It was my own fault that I was going over the posted limit. Let me know when they call up a jury for a speeding ticket hearing, until that day "beyond a reasonable doubt" doesn't mean shit. You say you weren't speeding, cops says you where...if you were the judge who would you believe? Your best bet is to hope for a reduced fine and to go on probation for a year after talking to the hearing officer.

Yeah, don't expect to be out of the ticket. Do as Chris said before. Your best luck is sitting down with the city/state attorney, and plea bargaining. Either way, your about to spend some money.
