If we use our reserves and start producing our own oil for our own use, then it doesn't doesn't matter what they do. Sure, we may pay a little more at the pump for it, but we've been paying more at the pump since they started bumping it up while we sat on our thumbs anyway. So we could spend $3 a gallon with the money going to OPEC or we could spend $3 a gallon keeping the money here. I'm all for keeping it here.

It completely matters what they do. Oil trades on a world market. In our world market economy, the world market sets the oil price. Our own oil can't sell for more than the market price because that's not how it works.

You missed the point of my post. I'm not talking about selling it on the open market. I'm talking about producing it for our own use exclusively. Just like Japan refuses to export/sell their rice on the open market.

I didn't miss the point. You talk about government over regulation being a bad thing. Yet, you are suggesting a government regulation that is so monumental, it dwarfs anything to date. I assumed you didn't understand how things worked because you want things both ways.

That has nothing to do with government regulation, it's just smart. We have access to more oil here than we could ever use in the long term, so why keep playing the open market "shell" game? Because too much money is tied to it at a higher market value, that's why.

Nothing will ever dwarf Obamacare and socialized medicine, they own you now.

I don't even know what to say to that. That's the most anti-free market idea I've ever heard of. Do you really think american oil companies aren't going to stick it to you? Nevermind the problems that will occur by turning our backs on the world market. Look into the reasons that the U.S. dollar is the worlds reserve currency. Hint: All oil sold around the world is denominated in dollars.

As far as Obamacare goes, have you ever heard of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act which was signed into law by Ronald Reagan? It requires emergency rooms to treat a person regardless of their ability to pay. That law resulted in the $10 ibuprofen pill and other ridiculous costs to cover those who couldn't pay. People who couldn't afford preventive care ultimately received it the most expensive way, in the emergency room. Consider the fact that the Heritage Foundation, a conservation think tank, essentially came up with the main ideas of Obamacare.

You mean conservative? The two are a bit different, plus I doubt this very much. Got any facts to support this?

Any conservative ideas of helping the poor receive healthcare are buried in light years of regulation and cost over runs. This is just another method of taking a huge part of our economy and putting it in government hands.

Free markets? Just like the way China sticks it to us with manufacturing every day? Because we sold out our labor forces here in the USA by opening free trade that only seems to go one way. Remember those bumper stickers that used to say, "Buy American, the job it saves could be yours"?

Yes, I've heard about it just as everybody else has. But was it really a broken system? Please explain how Obamacare is going to fix it, AND SAVE MONEY ACROSS THE BOARD.
