Re: Chaos! Project phoenix
So a "great street setup" consists of a cement filled block and 6000 RPM of lag?
Good thing you still have the balance shafts to reduce that cabin vibration!
Just giving you shit; I'm sure you'll have fun killing turbo Busa's

Thanks. This is just the beginning. Wait till I post the turbo setup and first start lol.
When it comes to the car I built it for one reason. For me. Some go down the road of building/racing their car for recognition and end up never being happy. So if you really want to build the car first make sure you're doing it for the right reasons. Then do your research and take your time.

Alternator is relocated and to me the car has a better feeling and is more responsive without power steering. So I had it taken off.

Re: Chaos! Project phoenix
Mitsubishi found it helpful to put a bracket there stock. It connects the DP to the block. Its completely unnecessary though, your exhaust studs and the aluminum they thread into wont be experiencing any extra stress or weight with your setup. Forget I said anything. Helicoiling with a hand drill is fun!

My turbo isn't the smallest but only weighs like 10lbs with the billet CHRA. These pics are only the mockup. this is Not the final setup. Its gone look WAY DIFFERENT lol.

Thanks. Ran into fitment issues with the ETC core. It was way to short on both sides (1.5"). Now all that's left on the turbo setup is one dumptube. Then downpipe, turbine housing, and both dumptubes go to ceramic coater. But not just any ceramic coating. These guys coating rated at 2200*. It's a dual stage process.... on the outside as well as on the inside.

Re: Chaos! Project phoenix
Ha, yeah, I doubt there are any hush hush secrets anymore. Anytime I see that on a national board, I see a post from Marco 30 seconds later saying he did that in 2004, which he did.
Those lightened cranks always scare me a bit unless mallory metal is added to offset the piston/rod weight accordingly. Although on a racecar, who cares, nobody is driving them 100k miles.
I like the custom exhaust. I'm getting tired of piecing together mine to get it the way I like, I'm thinking about just starting from scratch and making it completely. My goal is to have it hug the undercarriage tighter than the ones I see on the market right now.

The guy who does the crank puts alot of time into doing it right. A single crank has been proven for years thru a few shops on different fast cars. I mean alot of years lol

Re: Chaos! Project phoenix
Last dumptube done and now everything has been sent of to get ceramic coated.
Ran into a few issues. It seems the 4" ETS intercooler core is to short ( over 1" on both sides) and doesn't clear the radiator. Devo wanted a new Core but was advised by ETS to cut down the radiator and fab it to work smh. So not wanting to go back and forth or take forever waiting for a new core from ETS they did the fab. But, that now caused the 3" IC piping to have to be routed in a way that now it won't clear the trans mount etc. Devo then mentioned a bar to fix the issue. I didn't even give them a chance to tell me what it was called. I had an idea what they were talking about so I made a call and a few hours later.
