He was looking for an O'Reilly store he was supposed to be doing inventory at and while his head was turned looking for it a lady cut in front of him and by the time he saw her it was too late. He swerved but collided at an angle.

Re: Spazzy's new Evo
Yeah... women need to stay in the kitchen and get off my fucking streets.
I was braking for a line of cars at a light and she changed lanes in front of me, no signal, obviously didn't look, and I didn't have time to stop. Hughes listed everything that'll need to be replaced, and I'm glad it's not any worse.
On the flip side, everything I could nitpick on the car; the rock chips, the lip starting to come off, and the bent plate bracket are being replaced, and the car still ran fine and tracked a straight line when I drove it from the accident to the body shop.
Sure, it sucks, but it could have been a lot worse, and if I'd been driving the Talon it would have been destroyed.

Definitely! At least the car is still structurally sound and you'll have a sexy new front end.

Re: Spazzy's new Evo
Glad to hear you're okay! It still sucks that you had to put a car you JUST bought in the shop already.

Re: Spazzy's new Evo
Body shop already has the car torn down, it's pretty much waiting for Mitsu to get parts to them at this point, so it's a little late for borrowing parts.
And yeah, I just took it to Luther because they were close by I've seen the good work they do.

Re: Spazzy's new Evo
My guess is because Evos are much newer and superior to DSMs in all performance aspects (with the one exception being stock weight). I'm not just talking about power, I'm talking about the whole package since a lot of us like to turn the wheel too.
DSMs are great considering what they are (cheap and easy to mod), but they are not the end-all for performance cars. Oddly enough, advances have been made in the past 20 years

This.
Also, didn't want to deal with the necessary restoration on the Talon with all the rust. Just keeping it on the road in that sense has been expensive enough as it is (between broken bolts, cutting crap off the car, and the whole core support fiasco), I have no desire to tear it down and fix all the rust on the frame. It's not unfixable, but I just don't have the time or motivation to put that much effort into it.

Consequently, what do Evo 8's and 9's weigh? Wiki says the IX RS weights 2,888, which strikes me as a tad on the light side. Has anybody here weighed their Evo on a set of corner scales?

Re: Spazzy's new Evo
I'll actually be putting mine on a truck scale in a few weeks when I go down to Iowa to get a general ballpark. The scale at the power plant in Ames isn't gated off.

Just over 3200lbs usually. Add in things like SSL and it weighs a bit more, and any model with ACD. The RS is just under 3200 if I recall correctly.
