Re: The 3S Gauntlet has been laid
you're honestly going to say that evo's (evo 9s to be exact) are fast because they have the ability to alter their cam timing?

Re: The 3S Gauntlet has been laid
No I did not say that mostly...I was talking about it. The Evo's are fast because of the aftermarket base over here and back in Japan. Besides the 4g63 is a very nice engine. Its not great or godly but nice. But then again...I don't know the real facts on why they took a short time to get in the low times.

I dunno..the 4g63 is voted in the top 10 motors of all time, next to the 2jz, and the rb26..

Re: The 3S Gauntlet has been laid
The 4G63 is a great motor hands down.
Most of the fast Evos do not have MIVEC. MIVEC just came out with the 9s, and there weren't even any aftermarket cams available for it until just very recently.
The 3s isn't that expensive, so I don't that has held it back at all. The MKIV Supra isn't cheap. The motor and drivetrain have held it back. It requires more work to get farther, which Josh has been doing.

The weight is a huge issue, so are some major drivetrain issues. Things are getting better for the market, only time will tell where it walls again.

Keep in mind that far more DSM's were produced than 3/S's allowing a much larger enthusiast base therefore more opportunities to go fast. I like both cars, nothing against either, I am just saying that statistics do play a role here.

Sorry for disagreeing with you...
Different people bought 3/S's for different reasons than those who bought DSM's; both are good cars in their own regard. I guess I really don't understand what DSMers have against the 3/S's. Every car has its strong points and there isn't a single car out there that doesn't have its weaknesses too.

Re: The 3S Gauntlet has been laid
Why all the hate, I guess we could all just say that mitsus in general are crap because domestics have been running faster than them for a long time, Who cares.
There are more fast DSM's than 3/S's, there is a bigger aftermarket for DSM's, coincidence?? Also, DSM's are lighter, and can make as much power as a 3/S, both have all wheel drive, show me why the 3/S's should be a better drag car. Obviously 3/S's weren't designed specifically for the 1/4 mile, considering they are geared to do about a million mph, so who cares, hate all day long, but until you are running 4's like john force or someone your still a fag with a slow car.

LOL haha. Go look around on the EVO forums and notice that a lot of the EVO owners go out and buy a car, then drop it off at Buschur or AMS, then write a huge check and make them promise that they will be the new dyno queen on the internet. After they are praised on the net they find a good driver and have them rocket their car into the 9s.
Now, not all EVO owners are this way but the ones that are the fastest, in most cases, are either business owners(AMS, Buschur, etc) or they are rich guys on the coast that have nothing better to do with their money.
Props to another 3/S in the 9s, hopefully next season we can have a local in the running. It obviously takes a lot of enginuity(sp?) to get a land barge like that to trap that low of a time.
