The silver lining behind a very, very dark cloud

So two days ago shit started going bad all around, and I was feeling a little shitty when a close friend of mine stepped in for some moral supoprt. He handed me the keys to his 1g and said "you're driving." Don't worry, thats not what my post is about, though driving that thing around was a blast. But it gets better

I'm not sure how many of you were actually lucky enough to see my little blue truck, but if you did you know how not-so-hot it is, and by hot I mean reliable, clean, etc. But never the less, I got it for $440, and it worked just fine, for the most part. Well, one night, my friend Clayton just happen to see it and decided that I should sell it to him so he could drop it on the ground and make it all wierd looking. Well I was a little distrought. Selling it sounded good to me, considering I hated that truck. But I didn't have another car. Some how, it was made known that my friend with the 1g was preparing to sell him car. Sooo, we gathered a plan.

Stephan [kid with 1g] said he wanted $1200 out of the car. This car is ugly as hell, however, the motor was re-built under 2k ago, the suspension is brand new, and some other good stuff. So we decide that Clayton would give Stephan the $1200, the truck would go to him, and the Talon would go to me. And yes, he knew how much I paid for it. Don't ask. Anyways, I decided to be a nice friend and told him I would pay for $300 of it so he could get the new front tire put on the truck and a few other little things it needed.

So we go to get everything together, and planned on making the three way trade on Monday night [last night] however, we ran into slight complications when Stephan had to run out of town last minute. But he said to go ahead with out him and told us where things were, and what not.

Well yesterday [the day we planned on going threw with everything], Clayton also took the Talon to work with him, since his truck broke down [not the one I was giving him]. On the way into the neighborhood, the car dies [which it was doing anyways, though it wasn't dying totally, it just was getting pissy at idle] and it won't start again. It finally gave in and blew a fuse. This was frustrating, as the one guy who really knows the car, was out of state completely. We tried everything and looked for everything, but nothing was working. We decided eventually to ghetto-rig it and just attach a wire where the fuse would go. We had some trouble keeping voltage up, and kept dying on us, but eventually it took to what was going on with a little bit of tweeking, and a process that started at 11:30 was finally finished with Stephan coaching us over the phone at 4 am.

It was an interesting night and I am proud to say that I officially own my first running DSM. 1990 Talon TSi AWD. Perfect way to end a shitty few days and I couldn't be happier.

I apologize in advance. I bet this post doesn't make to much sense but I've been up since 9am Monday. Going on 24 hours. I don't get to go to sleep either because I get to work in 4 hours Deffinately worth it in my book.

And by the way, Stephan = greasemonkey on here.

When you dropped me off at whatever time it was this morning, I heard you go down what I assume was Valley Creek for at least like 5 minutes. It was entertaining =).

Congrats, glad to see you got it working. I am unsure why we do not have any 80amp fuses in stock, but I"ll be ordering some for "next time".
Good luck re-wiring the fan mess.

Sounds like fun... if the fuse kept blowing that is the clue to figure out why its blowing, not just rig it so it melts all the electrical in the car

I thought you were getting an apartment?

Re: The silver lining behind a very, very dark cloud

Haha, no it's black, and I don't have pics yet. However, the body just happened to be the down fall to the whole gig. She's ugly But I don't care, I am still in awe everytime I drive it. What was I thinking this whole time?!

AJ- Pass that $5 my way Stephan and I made a deal that if I got this car I had to keep it. Not like I'll object to that.

Peter: Yah, I'm still getting my apartment. However the last place fell thru due to lack of 1 BR's. But I still have plenty of money for that. Like I said I really didn't have to pay much for the car at all.

We are for sure going to get the fuse squared away, as welll as the fan and hopefully what seems to be a boost leak. I think the open down pipe maybe next to go. It pissed off my dad, neighbors and I'm sure it pissed off Matt's neighbors at 5 am this morning, haha

Yah Swanny, I thought it was odd that you didn't have any. Oh well, ghetto-ness works for now. Seems to be doing quite well actually. Volts stay up as long as I turn the radio down at stop lights, though it never drops past 12.1.

I may bring it to Applebees depending on how lazy I am. Plus for the first time in my life I sadly watched as my gas gage dropped for 3/4 tank to 1/4 tank in less than a day. I'll have to get used to that haha.

Thank's everyone, though! I'm REALLY excited and happy about this. Should be interesting to see where it goes. Considering all the shit that happened before the car came along, I'm thinking it's either going to be the best thing thats ever happened in my little life, or my worst nightmare, and being that its a DSM, the odds don't look good. But I have hope! I plan on fixing up the body as much as I can, attempting to leave it as stock as possible [though I doubt this], and try to use it more as a tool of learning, rather than an all out race car right away. But I am happy with it

I already checked it out. It would have been better if she had brought it to my work up at Batteries Plus, have alot more tools, but from what I could tell the Alternator was charging and the battery actually taking and holding a charge.

Paul: Eh, Pictures are over rated. She rusty and faded

Reid: Thanks feels good to be un-n00b-ed. Though I still consider myself a n00b, and will until I get better with this thing.

Talian: Thanks So far everything's working out great other than the fact that I could have possibly blown my subs, but I love it anyways.

Spease: Haha Yah I saw you and I was like Hooooooly shit thats a nice DSM.. Oh wait it's Spease! But yah, you should have launched harder. I want to see that thing really go for it!
