Don't ignore typical dsm problems and you won't run into shit like this.

Timing belt needs to be changed at or prior to 60k intervals. If you get an engine and aren't 100% positive as to when it was changed last, change the damn thing. For less than 200 dollars and a few hours of your time, you coulda saved yourself over 2k.

Timing belts don't break for no reason. If it was changed right before you got it, it was either way too tight, you had oil leaks, or it was flat out not changed. Some people just replace the belt itself. That's completely stupid. It's usually a pully that screws up and throws the belt.

So basically just an FYI. Change your timing belts religiously so you can avoid this mess in the future. I am happy that you are deciding to get back at it and not just give up like some pussies. So congratulations for that. I don't mean to sound like a prick but this is a common problem and people just don't get it so I feel the need to attempt to make it very clear. Good luck on your future motor.
