Re: boost leak

Figured out what caused a boost leak. It was the TB. Not the TB gaskets (on either side). Somehow he blew out the FIAV gasket. We noticed that there was some air coming out of the 2 coolant passages on the TB. They are connected to nothing. Took the TB apart and found out that it is missing a half inch of the oring gasket inside the TB. I grabbed another TB and threw it on. The car seems to have a leak on the TB (small leak) when you open the throttle a bit. You can hear the air wistling a bit. We noticed that on the old TB also. Has anyone else noticed this before??? I haven't.

Started the car up and vaccum read 18 (normal). But the car would idle at 2500. I tried adjusting the throttle cable, no help. I put the cable so there was a lot of slack and it did nothing to the idle. It has a 1g TB on it. There is a sensor on the top side next to the firewall with one wire going to it. The old TB didn't have it in (it was broken off). It seems as if that sensor rubs agains the tension of the TB. I am guessing that removing the sensor may do it but any other ideas. I have called it a night in the garage.
