Re: Bar's signs called racist.
Well, How many of you would consider yourselves "norwegian" or "german" or "swedish" or something like that? Were you born in the US? how about your parents? My grandparents like to fly the icelandic flag because my grandpa's grandpa came over here with his family back in the day. I consider myself 100% American and don't hold on to the illusion that I'm "part german, part this and that". I think most of what he puts on the signs are not really harmful, possibly distasteful, but I only have a problem with one that the lady mentioned: We speak english in here.
That's expected I suppose, after all it's in texas and white people hate mexican emigrants there, but did they ever think about people coming over from europe 100 years ago? A lot of them didn't speak english.
They'll learn the language eventually, if you give them a chance. Racism, hatred and bigotry will always be around here and everywhere else around the world but the people who try and get away from all that are the ones who are on the moral high ground. I think that bar owner is not one of them.
