I think it should follow these rules;
1. It must be a licensed street car
2. It must run full exhaust (dump tube is optional)
|
Why? I don't plan on running a full exhaust at the track. You don't have to run an exhuast in a lot of the classes that my car would be closest to.
Quote:
3. It must have D.O.T. approved tires (any kind you like)
|
Why? Are we trying to make it a street class?
Quote:
4. The engine manufacturer must match the car (transplants of the same make are acceptable)
|
What about tranny and rear end?
Quote:
5. Imports only (fuck no, Camaros/Firebirds are not allowed)
6. All entrants must run the same fuel (nitrous is optional)
|
That would be too hard to enforce and not fair. I don't want to run some shitty 110 or pump gas, and someone else might not want to run C16.
Quote:
Other than this, I think it should be open to what ever you want to do to the car.
|
If we are going to have a bunch of rules, maybe we should follow the rules of a real racing class or just not bother and bring whatever and run for fun.

Yeah some of these rules throw both our cars out of competion as well. Like the drivetrain and exhaust rules.

Raptor said he would like it to be licensed street cars. Just trying to give everybody some type of idea of what's expected.
This is Raptor's idea, I just added some thoughts about it. Raptor will have the final say on this.

I don't think it even has to run on the street, just be licensed for it. If we followed all the rules above, I wouldn't be able to run either.
The only thing really excluded would be all out professional drag cars (alcohol rails etc) Since there are local shops that have run them for years. The only requirement is still the license plate. Otherwise, anything else goes in my book.

Only if you want to get a business license, insurance etc. The reason this is good is that it will promote one of the local businesses and possibly more depending on the results, it raises the bar for all. But the ones that should be to benefit are the ones following the rules of business, paying the taxes and insurance, licenses etc. So do that and you can be in.

I would like to see licensed performance/repair shops only.
IMO the car only needs to follow:
1) Must have been a registered street chassis at some point in its life.
2) Must beable to be 'street driven' without toooo many tickets.
So pretty much no rails, the car must be a door slammer of some type.
My car is personally being built for 'street class', NDRA turbo 6 catagory if you want to be specific, so I'll obviously be following all these rules + 1 millio more...just not trying to outlaw any creations....except rails.
Minimum weight of 1500lbs w/driver?
just some ideas.

Just a license. Anything else goes. If you are up to the challenge, bring what you can. Other rules would serve no benefit other than limiting the competition and I dont see that as necessary. Excludes rails only, no other rules, if you can get a license on your pro stock, bring it.

That rules out half of the shops in town.

I think the ones that don't play by the same rules shouldn't be in it. If there are shops interested in competing, they need to at least be legal businesses. Who does that rule out?

I cleaned up the stupid posts. The point is to raise the bar for performance shops in the area as well as have some fun competition. It gives a chance for the local shops to showcase some of the things they might normally not have the chance to show etc. Not a bad move for any shop to compete IMO.

DSMs suck for autocross. You spend too much time at low speeds in parking lot racing. DSM 1st gears usually suck getting into and out of and turbos spool slow in low gears.

Hey, maybe this is a good reason for JET to go legit, get your business legal and you can get in on this too.:bounce:

I am already working on that! I have the business license paperwork on the way. It is just a side job right now, but I am suprised at how much business is picking up. It definately has potential, now if I can just find more time! :bounce:
