Re: Evo X upgrades
Hmmm, looking forward to seeing that actually on your car. Plan to leave it carbon or paint it?

Re: Evo X upgrades
Carbon. I'll be installing an APR splitter in the Spring. That combined with the obnoxious wing should make for a decent ricer package.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Hell yea, great rice package
Keep the hood or sell it for scrap or something. Aluminum is worth money.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Yeah, definitely would have value at a recycler. Think of all the aluminum cans it would take to equal 22 lbs (or whatever it is)! The little plastic vent pieces might have worth too, seems like a lot of people chip the paint on the center scoop so you could probably sell yours pretty easily if it's in nice shape.

Buying a truck to haul it to a recycling place would really cut into the profits, though. If someone wants to pick it up at RS when the new hood comes in, then knock yourself out.

This is going to look great with your carbon vent setup as well. Is the uv protection pretty good on this bad boy?

Re: Evo X upgrades
pretty good lookin' hood. What's the weight difference between the stocker and the cf hood?
IIRC, when we went to throw away about 9-10ish pounds of aluminum cans, we got back roughly $20. Not bad I guess.

I'd guess it's the same. The full carbon hoods are around 2lbs lighter and I went with fiberglass on the under side.

I figure it's enough for RS to not charge me for disposal.

I'll be selling the Rexpeed hood vents since they are for the stock hood. I have a set of the vents for behind the wheels but I haven't installed them. It'll probably be 'too much' for me. Wing, hood, lip will probably be enough carbon.
I'm not sure regarding UV. The CBD hoods are nearly flawless in quality...they really put Seibon, Rexpeed, and others to shame. It's because autos are a side-gig since they make most of their money making wings for planes and that sort of thing.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Good to hear since Rexpeed's UV protection is a joke (as is Seibon's fitment).

Re: Evo X upgrades
I ordered an SSP undertray today. Shipping ended up making it a bit expensive but it certainly looks like a nice piece.
I decided to go with that and stick with the Aero front lip this Summer. I'll know by the end of the season if I need more downforce up front and will switch it up if required.
I'm thinking about selling the DS2500 brake pads that I bought and ordering a set of Carbotech instead. Other road course guys have been happy with the XP10/XP8 combination.

No, I have MAP checking on that. The estimate was 2-3 weeks to ship so hopefully it is shipping today or has shipped.

Re: Evo X upgrades
I decided to order the Carbotech brake pads. I also picked up one of the Beatrush rear tow hooks--that's mostly bling but I did have to remove the stock rear hook to install the SX exhaust.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Well maybe I'll have to buy your other brake pads (I think you have some DS2500's or something right?), getting close to that time.
So why the switch though? Are these more aggressive? Better for track where as your others are more street with some track?

Yeah, a brand new set of DS2500s. I'd take $275 for them...they are listed around $340 most places.
The Carbotech XP10 is an HPDE pad...it's borderline for street use and I'm expecting them to be noisy.

I have a bunch of crap to sell on EvoXforums so they'll be listed when I get ambitious enough.
My stock pads are still fine but I'll be driving too hard for them this season. I held back on the throttle due to fueling problems last year but there won't be any of that nonsense now.

Re: Evo X upgrades
AMS is having a decent "Tax return sale" right now. I ordered their brake ducts. I'm waiting for MAP to get me a quote on the Girodisc 2-piece front and one-piece rear rotors. I'll either order them from MAP or direct.
I paid the road course fee for Proving Grounds last night. The guy running the event confirmed that ride-alongs are permitted. Not sure who will be coming with me, I've invited a couple people from EvoXforums.

Re: Evo X upgrades
Wow nice. I wish I could afford the ballin 2 piece rotors. Guys have been known to actually pick up power on the dyno with those because of the massive loss in rotational weight.
