Sweet, blue injectors make me feel good inside.
I was thinking about your part-out today.
Anything else new with the evo?

Not a bad idea at all. My IX is now over 60k miles about 35k of which is with the FP4R's (stock springs, seals, etc.). I think a conservative rev-limit is what really saves the valve seals (fairly common weak-point of the 8/9 head). I set the rev-limiter to 7,600 when I installed those cams just to be on the safe side; the car did sit on that limiter quite a bit too during autocross when it didn't make sense to snap off another shift into 3rd.

I'm calling it right now: Random misfire P0300!

Actually probably not since you have stock cams and injectors, but with these cars who knows Since it's so cold there it could be an overboost error if the boost limit table wasn't set to 319 across the board.

I already disabled that. It came on this morning when I started the car to let it warm up. I fired it up and it missed a bit, then when I came back out to move it, the CEL was on...

I forgot to save the ECU info to my desktop like I have in the past, so I'll just have to wait till I can pull it with the laptop tomorrow night. The car ran perfectly fine, so I'm not too concerned, just not really getting into the boost too much until I can read the code. I'm sure it's something small

It's the black UK Evo badging with my own little touch to it. It was previously completely bare. Decided it needed a little something. EBay is great too cause some of these fools want like $100+ for the same kit I got for ~$25

Should look nice across the trunk from once of these eventually:

haven't bought it yet, I'll get to that once I'm tuned Not sure which one I want/which one would look better on the car

Neither do I, that's why I was looking at these.

Let me know if you decide to get one though, we could just order two so we wouldn't have to pay shipping twice for such a small thing, cause I'm sure they'll want like $6.00 to ship the damn thing

Re: Finally got my Evo

If you didn't buy a mini battery tray yet...

I still have the tray that came from Trevor's car that I'm not going to use.

I can't remember what I paid for it and he edited his thread on EvoMN as he sold stuff. You can have it for cheap.

You would have to pick it up from my dad's in Fridley though... whenever my car comes back from Brookdale Mitsu.

It's just sitting in the trunk of my car with all the other random crap I left in MN when I went back for R&R.

Re: Finally got my Evo

Got in the car after work today and no CEL. I guess it will be one of those...

On another note, I sent out a sample from my first oil change (mitsustyle spring dyno day 2010 prize), wasn't sure what oil was used in it, so I just guessed it was Mobil 1 10w-30.

Got my results back today. Looks to be a pretty healthy motor.

Figured I would drag this back to my project thread so I wouldn't clutter up Matt's.

What is the difference between the 120's and the C-TEK anyways? I read through the entire thread debating the difference of the 2 and the only real argument anyone could come up with is that the cooling vanes were different. I wonder if the 121's would really be that much worse for a car like mine that is only daily driven and would see real hard braking maybe a few times a year? (Cruises, maybe a few auto-x's, spirited driving here and there)

Only real downside sounds like the black coating on them sucks and flakes off after a month or two of use. Dissapointing, but maybe there is a local place that could provide somethig that could hold up better for close to the same price. ($10/rotor)

Re: Finally got my Evo

For the price of the Centrics, I really don't see any downside to getting them. Plus, their coating (black and silver available) is much better than Rotorpros. The black coating on my IX is still holding up strong last I saw the car a few weeks ago (plenty of street miles + track days + auto-x).

Any downside to the Centrics, or the RotorPros? The centrics are just about twice as much, so I would say a downside to the Centrics are the price vs. RotorPros.

Not sure where you're looking but they're only $264/set of 4 from Tirerack and even cheaper from MAP.

Re: Finally got my Evo

I have rotorpros on my IX, the coating did come off, but I'm still trying to figure out the purpose of the hub area coating on rotors. Other than that my rotorpros are amazing and I'm the type of person that'll warp rotors in a few days if they aren't up to the challenge... I've done it many times.

Huh? MAP Doesn't even have Centrics on their site? Though I did see them on tirerack for a great price! hmmm....

Good to hear. I would think the coating would be mainly for keeping rust off of them.

Re: Finally got my Evo

Yeah for sure, I just don't think it matters much if the part of the rotor you can't see is rusty, the wheel still comes off just as easy. If I were to do it again I wouldn't get any coating at all on my rotors and save the $5 or whatever it was on each rotor.
