It all depends on what you watch on the TV; 1080i would be just fine if all you did was watch HD TV, because to this day that is the best resolution they offer. 1080p is only really useful if you are using a Blu-Ray/PS3/Upconvert DVD Player ect. And for most gaming 90% of the games are max resolution of 720p anyway. But when I bought mine I just bought the best because I got a hell of a deal on it at Ultimate Electronics.
Dish Network's VOD (Video on Demand) is pretty sweet though; you can get Blu-Ray quality movies right through Dish Network if you have a ethernet cable plugged in. I have got a couple and they are just like a Blu-Ray movie without the $30+ cost.
