Well wtf do you want to know? They make power and the 6spds are really expensive.

Re: 2JZ vs LSx, opinions, knowledge, and of course the smart (*& comments too.

2JZ is very heavy. It isn't the most efficient motor ever, not so great mpg and a not the best head design ever. You can get around it by cramming shit load of boost down it like every one with a Supra does and make all kinds of power. Cams and aftermarket intake manifold can help them a lot. They can handle all kinds of power in stock form, if it's an older motor. The newer IS300 2JZ motor has a better head and VVTI, but a weak bottom end. You can also run the NA version of the 2JZ, you just need to buy a Cometic HG for it to lower the compression. Throwing in a stock GTE headgasket will also lower the compression on that motor a decent amount, but not enough to make me happy on pump gas at higher boost. It would probably be decent for E85, but a Cometic doesn't cost much more than a stock HG anyways. The GTE is COP vs a distributor on the GE motor too. The distributor can get in the way for big turbos that run a 5" inlet, if you are running an intake pipe.

Yea, mating a decent tranny and clutch to it can be very expensive. If you only want 750hp or less, you might be able to use a cheap R154 tranny though. The very HP guys usually run a Chevy auto like a TH400 or Powerglide.

I think that R154 has been used on starquests before. I should look into that if I start breaking transmission. And I'll never make 750 so that's cool.

Re: 2JZ vs LSx, opinions, knowledge, and of course the smart (*& comments too.

depends what the plans are for the car.

2JZ's will make high power more easily than an LSx, but if you want handling you will probably have better weight distribution/torque curve for road racing or whatever out of a LSx. They fit in anything, and can easily make 450+whp NA all day every day, and love it.

Trans options are all over for the LS1, and clutches aren't too expensive. Also easy to run an auto if you want to go that route.

Depends what you are looking for.

Drag car would be 2JZ for me, head/cam/nitrous LSx for just a fun vehicle.

na-t a 2jz. It's so cheap, it should be put in every car that it'd fit in.

TT a LSx, they make loads of power. Yes you have to build it, but it is a chevy so parts are cheap. Tons of aftermarket and you can make it a 427ci or 454ci while you are at the build. Now you are talking, 2.5 times the size of the 2jz!

Good choice, my next project will be LSx powered also, but that is a ways down the road. So what is up your sleeve?
