Re: off topic, who snowboards?

Well I been snowboarding for 8 years. Been to Utah three times. Loved it I wish I can go back. But I have not boarded for four years now. My set up is pretty much all Burton. I know I still have my 158 Hooger. My new board is a Burton ... Dragon series. I have the Stomp in bindings with boots. Pretty much all I am saying is I can not remember what kinda board I have. hahaha I started on a Burton 4.1 back in 1995 and boarded regular. I am hoping next year I can go out again. If I get a chance I'll dig out my board and snap a shot. But I ant putting my bindings on it until I know for sure I am going out!

Re: off topic, who snowboards?

This year will be my 7th year 'boarding. I've got a '02 Burton Balance 157 or somewhere around there, with Burton Freestyle binding (not to bad). Im planning on getting more of a freestyle board. Im thinking about the Gnu Street Series for now. Been doing the boardpark here and there, but most people I go with are too scared of even going through the park, so I've been held back everytime I go. I think I suck for a 7th year rider. This year I'll be teaching a bunch of people and hopefully they pick up the sport. It's way fun. I'll going to Spirit Mt this Friday afternoon then to Afton on the 29th and more during the winter as I get more people to go with me.

Re: off topic, who snowboards?

^I totally agree. I'd love to get better in the park but most ppl I go with are kinda nervous and I don't want to split up and board alone. I do alot of backcountry though and you can find some pretty rad stuff to fly off of and jib in the woods. Big mountain in one week baby!

Re: off topic, who snowboards?

Are there any places or suggestions for practicing before going to an actual hill?

Buck Hill, about as small and simple as it gets, and I wouldn't consider it an actual hill. I tried learning on some local small hills and walking back up each time when I was little, but they're so small you don't even get a chance to turn.

Yeah, going to a packed house isn't ideal but more so I'd rather go my first time with some others who are also learning.

Re: off topic, who snowboards?

I used to snowboard. I bought everything I think 2 years ago but I never have time anymore and my ass always hurts for days because I still suck at it. So if anyone is looking for a good set up that is still basically new for their gf or something let me know

Re: off topic, who snowboards?

Just wanna let you all know I'm in montana right now. Went to blacktail mtn the other day and it was kinda a downer. $28 got you a day pass but the bottom of the mtn was closed so there wasn't much to ride. I was at big mtn/whitefish mtn yesterday and that was the best snow I've ever ridden on in my life, and I've been to some bigger place: vail, breck, big sky, bridger, keystone... The only downer (and it was a big one) was that it was so cloudy and foggy you couldn't see more than 40 feet in front of you at times. Hopefully it clears up tomorrow

Re: off topic, who snowboards?

Ah, I used to live right by Bridger Bowl. Almost worked there.

If you want to save a few bucks you can go to Moonlight Basin instead of Big Sky in that area. Smaller, but plenty of runs and on the same mountain.

Re: off topic, who snowboards?

The snow really depends on when you go. Nearly every single year at Targhee we get a couple feet of snow the week we are there, plus several feet before we get there, so it's incredible. However, last year they were really light on snow early in the season, so everything was moguled up, or groomers, which suck. So it was pretty average skiing most of the week, until the last two days it snowed a foot overnight each day, made up for the early week. Even then you still caught a little mogul under the powder.

I think I was at Big Mtn. two years ago visiting my uncle and I wasn't impressed, mostly because it was overcrowded when I went over Christmas break and there was no good snow. Timing is everything when it comes to your opinion of a place I guess.
