Our Baddest Short Block Build Yet...
We just wrapped this guy up for a customer in Illinois.
Specs:

O-Ringed Block
Eagle Crankshaft
Manley I Beam Rods
Wiseco Pistons

Should be quite the powerhouse!

Re: Our Baddest Short Block Build Yet...
Nice. Why did he go with the Wiseco instead of the Mahle pistons?

Re: Our Baddest Short Block Build Yet...
I believe it was mostly due to the compression ratio as the Wiseco's are 8.8:1 and the Mahle 2.3l pistons are 9.5:1.

What are your recommendations for a rev limit on that 2.3?

I wouldn't trust that rod ratio over 8500rpm's, that is what we are revving Kyle's Mahle/Eagle to at this point. Perhaps when she gets older we will find the breaking point

Re: Our Baddest Short Block Build Yet...
Lately there has been a lot of misinformed discussion about o-ringing blocks on the starquest boards. At what power levels have 4g63 people been seeign benefits/longer life from o-ringing as opposed to say, A1 studs with a regular MLS gasket or what have you?

Re: Our Baddest Short Block Build Yet...
To be honest with you we recommended against the O-ringing especially on a street driven vehicle as we feel some A1 head studs and a good head gasket will be sufficient for upwards of 700whp.
This customer is having Devo Tuning in Illinois assemble the long block, and they plan on using copper O-rings and the Mitsubishi MLS head gasket. As far as we can tell their thoughts here are that the O-ring will help avoid a blown head gasket by reinforcing the seal of the MLS.

Re: Our Baddest Short Block Build Yet...
Good question, the word is starting to travel as we sold two off of our website in the last week. I would venture to guess that there are probably 20 roaming around the twin cities at this point...
