Nos kit or Kyro kit

Looking for some extra snert on the street/ track and have been dabbing with the idea of running Nos or Kyro. I have a 98 GST Evo3 turbo with supporting mods, my question has anyone played with these componets and could give me good numbers such as gains hp wise on price and bottle fill stuff like that. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Nos kit or Kyro kit

Do you want to spray into the motor on onto the intercooler? A 10lb bottle fill is around $40. Purging onto an intercooler uses a lot more nitrous than what you would spray into the motor. A lot of the gains that have been had from spraying nitrous onto an intercooler are actually because the nitrous eventually ends up getting sucked into the intake and makes its way to the engine.

Re: Nos kit or Kyro kit

Why don't you just spray into the manifold? Like ecoli was just saying, most of the power gained from spraying into the fmic is because some nitrous gets into the engine. Why not just put ALL the nitrous into the engine

If you have octane left to spare, then just raise your boost.

Re: Nos kit or Kyro kit

You don't need a purge if you're spraying the intercooler, unless this is just for looks. If that's the case, you should probably get an electric blow off valve from Ebay as well. Makes cool swooshing noise.

I am guessing that Co2 would be a lot less expensive then nitrous oxide. Maybe not though? Similar effect too with what you want to do with it.

An hour of dyno tuning would be money better spent.

Re: Nos kit or Kyro kit

You know, I'll give the kid a break cause he's going to do what he wants to do. And it's his choice and frankly he seems to be taking the fun poking pretty well, which holds some gound here if you think about it. I missed the feeling with Tom first came around here, as I'm sure some of you missed from the days of the scorchers.

In reality though, using a NOS setup for an IC sprayer and fun visual effects is going to be more of a downfall for you. First, it's going to be wasted money. And a constant flow of it till you get bored with the concept and then you have to spend more to either use the system properly or take it out and sell it. Second, you'll be tempted to show off on the street and other location that could in fact just get you in trouble for having it on your car. It's not legal to use nitrus on the road in any way, if you are caught with a bottle chances are you'll at least get a ticket and depending on the cops and time frame you will end up at the impound lot.

Nitrus is a powerful and fun tool to use if done safely and I think you should think about this again. There are other ways to draw attention or set yourself apart from the others.

Re: Nos kit or Kyro kit

Good choice to be done with the vinyls. Can't be helped it seems to be a trait with people this side of the cities esp. just thankful you don't drive a beretta GTZ and think its the shit.

Anywho. Josh said no, he is the tuner of your car. Do your research and go to him with what you want to do.
He will explain his point of view and you yours. In the end its your decision, and then it will be made, but i can honestly say if you don't know shit about tuning, then at least talk to him face to face and maybe you can get some other options for power.

Cams? (i don't really know your setup to mention anything else, usually when asking for mod upgrades please state all/most important mods, it helps)

Also Steve hit it right on the button, more dyno time, fine tuning.
The guys running low numbers on 16G and other turbo's that are now considered small did so from constant retuning and track time, maybe just save some money and wait for the season to begin.

Hope this helps.

Re: Nos kit or Kyro kit

Yes, Josh is the Tuner of my whip & the guys at LSE great group, I have been their many times to pick his brain on things, "Sometimes I think I get annoying and forget to ask all these silly question's" but anywho, I would take his advise on just about anything retaining to the car. Just when leaving his shop the other day came across an SRT-4 with this Kyro Kit spraying in the intercooler and 2 Purges looked really sweet and took off like a bat out of hell, just woundering about Hp gains "if any", has anyone used this, stuff like that

Re: Nos kit or Kyro kit

If you use CO2 instead of nitrous and any of the CO2 gets into the engine, then you will lose power.

Re: Nos kit or Kyro kit

Why dont you just get a Meth injection kit or Propane or Water injection kit.

Its a lot cheaper than nitrous and you can run higher boost/make more power on pump gas instead of having to spend $50 or so every time you fill your nitrous tank.

256whp on an Evo III 16g doesnt seem like much with 20psi. I made 275whp at 15psi with an S-AFC, 550s and the stock fuel pump... What are your mods?

Ouch, my head hurts. It's Cryo, not Kyro or Cairo, the city with those pointy things on the outskirts of town.
