Exclamation OMFG!! Look at my timing belt!

Since the life of my car, I only opened up the timing belt cover once to take the valve cover off, to do my lifters. I didn't lose any bolts. That was like 3months ago. Today when I was driving I was hearing a winding sound like a supercharger, and even though it sounded cool I wanted to investigate. I concluded it was coming from the timing belt area, so I took the cover off and this is what I found!!!

Needless this had to happend, a day after I bought my airline tickets for vacation So have to wait another two weeks before I can get this repaired, I can safely say I won't be driving it, cause I rather have a belt to worry about, then a head.

Re: OMFG!! Look at my timing belt!

You must have dropped that in there at some point, it's a timing cover bolt.

Re: Retards!! Look at my timing belt!

Yeah, take that bolt out and smear some rubber cement along the bad edge of the belt. That should hold it together for a while.

Think so? I'm going to do that then! In about two weeks I'll get my new belt on!

Re: OMFG!! Look at my timing belt!

I had these problems on the first DSM shortblock I built. I didn't know then that one of the oil pan bolts is shorter than the others. Doh.

Re: OMFG!! Look at my timing belt!

I better try checking my timing belt also. I hear the same noise that sounds like a supercharger you were describing. Car is in storage so I wont have to worry about breaking anything yet.
