Nissan 300zx

well this isn't a wtb add or anything but just out of curiosity
I was looking at this 1991 300zx for sale today
i don't know hardly anything about nissan but the car looked pretty decent shape. the guy at the dealer had the recipts for the new turbo/clutch/ and some other stuff that was put in very recently.
It is obviously RWD
V6, turbo, leather (good shape) and all around a decent looking car
the guy is asking (maybe i miss heard him) 1150 (maybe it was 11,500)
the car has 99k miles on it
maybe a decent "drive when my talon isn't broken" car?
what do you guys think

Re: Nissan 300zx

i would love to have one, but i hear same thing, hell to work on, and for that price, whats wrong with it....that is way too cheap i think. i see them around 90k miles for around 5k or 6k i think??? well i just looked on autotrader, and they are going from 6 to 15k....one had 120k miles and was $7,000

Re: Nissan 300zx

That's a decent price if it's flawless, inside and out. Between 100-120k miles they're usually $7k-10k based almost entirely on body and interior condition. Z fanatics still cherish these cars, and are always willing to spend a little more for a "perfect" car.

Re: Nissan 300zx

Did some 300zx's come with all wheel steering as an option? A friend of mine tried to convince me some did but I told him i didn't think they did. Maybe AWD but not all wheel steer.

sweet cars. all wheel steering, twin turbo, I think some have six-speeds, if I remember right. Pretty mod-able. Very nice car, in my opinion. I have two friends that had 1985 300zx turbos, those were aweseme as well. Personally, I'd rather have a dsm though.

Re: Nissan 300zx

...dam "All wheel steering" They must be sweet around a tight curve. Nice cars IMO in what little i know of them. Probably nice until you open the hood and have to work on the dam thing.

Yeah, I looked into my friend's 300z and it seemed like I can barely fit my hands through anything and I'm a pretty skinny guy. First thing I thought of was "I hope I never have to work with this." Good luck trying to change the belts on them....

Re: Nissan 300zx

All 300ZXs are RWD and had autos or 5-speeds, all wheel steering came on all of the twin turbos.

Re: Nissan 300zx

He is definitly asking $11,500 for it. It is a bit overpriced but as stated earlier, they go for around 8k or so depending on appearence usually.

All wheel steering isn't all that it is cracked up to be. At least on my VR-4 it isn't....

All wheel steering always seems to be something people want to get rid of on the VR4s and 300ZXs.

Re: Nissan 300zx

People get rid of AWS in VR-4's because the rear lines are no longer made and when they leak they just scrap the whole thing.

Re: Nissan 300zx

Having a good amount of experience with 300zxtt's, I would have to say, great car if you are rich enough to never work on it, EVER! They suck to work on. They have decent potential. The all wheel steering is crappy. I have some very hard track time(Brainerd) with the car and the aws sucks. Most autox or road racers get rid of the aws. A couple of years ago getting parts for this car was like pulling teeth, but now that they are cheaper, there is more available.

Re: Nissan 300zx

it did look pretty tight in there when I looked :/
but I waqs just browsing around thinking about buying another car (prolly to replace the talon)
again I don't know much about them but I was pretty sure it was RWD not AWD (motor pointed to the rear of the car I assume d :P
anyways I bet I could talk him as low as 8k maybe but he says he has had alot of people looking so
I'll probably just let it pass by

Re: Nissan 300zx

oooo, that is a find my friend.

those cars have twin t25's and have mega top end stock.

a guy in so cal has one that I chat with and he loves it. Handling is a strong point.

they are very modable. intake, exhaust, jwt ecu and BAMM
350whp and you can knock on 11's with some slicks.
ultra reliable, the engine, It can run for 200k miles and not even drop compression if treated correctly. Internals have shown 500whp without any issues.

their downfall.
From a stop they suck MAJOR ass. they have an anti squat suspension. For the road track it owns, but when the backend doesn't sit down, you get wheel spin and hop. In the rain they eat major ass aswell unless you are running some good all seasons(but why would you on a 32z?)

fixing them.
Anything worth while means you drop the motor. new water pump, belts, turbos, basically anything medium to major means a drop of the motor.

the parts are phucking nasty for prices. Expect to pay 2x at least than you would for a dsm part. And some parts you'll pay 3-5x. two upgraded turbo's. No less than 1800 :-o

now saying that, i want one of those

sex on wheels

Re: Nissan 300zx

They are twin T22's as far as I know. But I just checked out a site that said they are T22/T25's?. In any case they are smaller than the 2G T25's.

Everywhere I've read is that they are T25 turbos.

Re: Nissan 300zx

well I test drove it :/
I wan't super impressed (i mean I know it is a fully stock car) but It didn't seem to pull hard I guess I was expecting a bit more out of it.
btw whats the stock HP to one of these? 200+? 300+? and they are fairly light too right?

300

they run 14 flat stock, and trap around 102. They have some mean top end with a few mods. You really need to get the bolt on's an a jwt ecu to fully get their abilities.

but are heavy as PHUCK
for a two seater, and no space under the hood or behind the seats. They are 3500+.

they are highway machines just like supra's. Just not as easy to workon.
