PTE Billet Turbos

I'm shopping for turbos at the moment. Was wondering if anyone here has any good info on these before I count them out. I personally am only looking at journal bearing oil cooled options.

My 2 biggest questions are:

1) Where are people buying these from? I was once told that the ones I'm looking at (oil cooled journal 62mm) could be had for around $800. I haven't found anywhere that has them for less than $900 yet.

2) Is there a divided T4 option? I'm mainly looking at their 62mm line-up, and typically don't see a divided T4 option, which is kind of a deal breaker for me.

Anyhow, any and all info is welcome!

WOOT!!! Should be fun. I would call PTE and talk to them about the 6262 and see what they can do for you. Maybe they can do something that we dont know.

Those seem to be nothing special on the 2jz's from what people have been posting for results. It's no better than an ancient 67/Ptrim combo.

Either the 6262 which seems to make 67 power w/ 61 spool, or a 6765 or whatever that hot street billet 67 turbo is cause that one just makes a ton of power.

BUT it looks like Brandon got a S300 BW or something already.

Either way, all these turbos should spool faster than stock supra TT turbos so I'm sure brandon will be happy w/ the spool.

Ron Shearer of Shearer can get divided T4, he is the only one that I have heard of being able to get them for some reason.

I think that's because it's another company making the housings for them. Not 100% sure though. Great turbo option though!

2jz no sh^t, You could tow it across the line. I thought in supra land things did not happen unless you have a 74plus mm turbo?

Re: PTE Billet Turbos

I think turbonectics make the t4 divded housing. Shane mentioned he's seen some of the journal bearing ones go bad. if you can wait Geoff from full race mentioned Borg Warner is coming out with new stuff in November

Re: PTE Billet Turbos

From what I've gathered, the 62mm line doesn't come with divided T4 options. But you can get some custom divided T4 housings for them for extra money.

So sounds like these aren't going to be my best option.

Re: PTE Billet Turbos

Get a billet 67, divided housing, undivided manifold and get an SP quick spool valve.

that's the setup I'm going to run on my 2jz but I think brandon wants something a hair smaller for better street driving.

Re: PTE Billet Turbos

The 3 turbos I was consider were

- 6262
- 6265
- S300sx 84-75

The PTE's are a hair cheaper, but then once you throw in a divided housing, either the same or more expensive. I like the BW one the best so unless the PTE's came out to be a cheaper option then I would have considered one of them more.

Re: PTE Billet Turbos

You don't need a divided housing, you have a 3 liter trying to run small turbos. A divided manifold with an undivided exhaust will work and give 75% of the benefits of a fully divided setup.

I have had those spool valves on Supras on the dyno, I don't think they are really worth it, maybe on some huge turbo.

Re: PTE Billet Turbos

I'm not interested in a spool valve.

As for why divided. The BW comes divided off the shelf, and from the "experts" so to speak, that I've spoken to, they said the BW were pretty much meant to be in divided housings, so you're best off keeping them in a divided housing.

And I want to keep as wide of a powerband as possible, so if going divided gains me say 300rpm, then I guess I don't see a reason not to. Unless there is a good reason not to that I'm unaware of. I'm still all ears at this point, and open to listen to any advice or info anyone has to share. just trying to get as educated as I can before purchasing one.

I had already purchased one, but there was a slight mixup so I still have time to think this over a little more.

Also I'm not sure what lb/min the PTE's are rated at, but the BW unit is rated at 72lb/min, so I feel it's a pretty good balance between power and streetability on this platform.
