Since I'm now running in the 11's I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for what type of harness I should get? I'm going to be ordering a cage in the next couple weeks I would like to get the harness as well, but I have no idea what one to get. Might as well ask about a firesuit also.

Shane knows a place down in Minneapolis where Rabe got his harnesses for pretty cheap, ask him about it.

It's all about the Simpson racing shoes.

From my times around circle track cars I haven't seen anything other than 4- or 5-point Simpson harnesses. I'd just stick with a 4-point unless you have a seat with a hole between your legs and want the extra support holding you in the seat. Unless things have changed, the 5-points were clumsy to buckle up as I recall and were sloppy if you didn't put the bottom belt in.

Lou Feggers (SP?) sells harnesses, I believe they have several styles but no cam locks. They are out past Maple Plaine. I bought RJS cam lock ones from Summit and they showed up the next day. They are nice and SFI rated and about $120 each which is pretty reasonable for cam locks. Of course JEGS sells them as well and both cary fire suits. Summit is by far the best online shop around for delivering stuff though, they are always fast and the stuff is usually better priced from them.

G-Force is another good one to use. Most of the rally cars on a budget that I have seen use them. I've seen them go for about $70 for the latch link, and $110 for cam lock. Those are both for 5 point harness'. I got those prices from saferacer.com But judging from the prices of some of thier other products, you might be able to find them for cheaper. I'll let you know if I find any more sites that have them.

I would definitely go with cam lock though. For the little extra cost, they are a huge coinvenience. I've sat in and used both, and couldn't see using the latch link ones for everyday use.

*Edit* Link works now.

I love my Sabelts. You need to get at least a five. You can go right under the belts if you don't have an anti-sub. I run a six because I think it is a little nicer on my balls. Definiately go with a cam style if you plan oin getting in and out of the car with any regularaty(sp?). Besides look at all the rally cars, they all use Sabelt, and you can get individual peices if one gets wrecked. Look for them at Racerswholesale.com.
