How much you paying for Race Gas in MN

As the title says... How much are you paying for C12 or C14 gas? I just bought 5 gallons of Phillips 66 B33 fuel for $58. That's 114 octane. Of course it would be cheaper by the drum but this was in an actual 5 gal can. Just wondering how much i took it up the ass. I could have gotten Turbo Blue 108 octane for about $4 gallon here. Perhaps for the 50 trim at 26psi i could have gotten away with B32(111) octane.

$58 is a lot. We sell VP C16 for $10 a gallon.

C16 is 117 motor octane and made for force induction cars.
B33 is 109 motor octane.
B32 is 105 motor octane.

I get 111 lead from the Mobile station on Central Ave for 4 dollars a gallon. Its worked well for us so far. No more than 30psi on it though.

Re: How much you paying for Race Gas in MN

it is fine to run leaded gas. I have some 110 in a gas can I got a few weeks ago. If I ever get it running, that is what my car will use. It was $4 a gallon at wayzeta Texaco.

Re: How much you paying for Race Gas in MN

Thanks for the input. Yeah i knew i was paying too much for it. I'm limited to what i can get locally though. I live in a town of 1500 people with not a vast supply of businesses to pick from. Yeah Shane i was wrong on the octane. It is 109 for motor oct. The (R+M)/2 for B33 is 114. The Research Oct. No. is 119. When i use this 5 galls up I might try either the Turbo Blue or this other stuff called CAM2. It's 110 octane. You can get it right out of the pump at a gas station about 35 minutes from here.

I'm shooting alky/water injection so i could probably get by with a little less octane of race gas. I'm solidy up to 24psi on W.I. and 93oct on the 50 trim but she is knocking about 2* at the top of 3rd gear.

PS- Phillips B33 is known as TrackTek now.

If you run with a test pipe in place of the cat or just plain gut the catalytic out. Leaded fuel plugs the element inside the cat.

I run 119 Leaded. Get it from Severson oil company here in Winona. About $9 something a gallon. Comes out around $50 after tax for a 5 gallon jug. Seems to work pretty good and the price isnt that bad. Thinking about getting a 55 gallon drum and running just race gas next year.

What cat? 8-) $3.85/gallon 110 octane here but that is only sold 3-4 months out of the year.

Re: How much you paying for Race Gas in MN

I get my race gas at Short Stop located in N St. Paul. 110 octane leaded. Used to be $3.50 but the last week they raised it to $4.00. Good stuff though, wish they didn't raise the price.

Re: How much you paying for Race Gas in MN

Last year I ran 100 unleaded from a Holiday off of Hamline in St Paul. It was about 3 dollars a gallon, but again they only sell it about 3 months out of the year. The guys in line to get it for their boats thought I was nuts when I just put the nozzle in and walked away. With a full tank later and 45 dollars less in my pocket they found out why when I did an AWD burnout leaving the parking lot. Race fuel is fun.

Re: How much you paying for Race Gas in MN

damn short stop, I always buy my 110 there, other wise KATH on rice has race fuel, 110 and 114 i think, they want like $4 a gal for the 110, i thought like 7 or 8 for the 114. I used to get 100 at colony oil on washington and 16th in minneapolis, cause it USED to be $2.50 a gal, but its now 3, they probly realized they were charging more for premium, haha.

It's the marathon station off of highway 3 on the south side of rosemount, I live right by there... I have no cat, so I'm gonna put some that shit in my car if it's ok... I was always told it was bad for Fuel Injection cars.

You will end up replacing O2 sensers often if you run leaded fuel often, other than that its not really any worse.

Re: How much you paying for Race Gas in MN

Just remember that motor octane is the important one to look at. A lot of places will quote the research octane number. Also typically the smaller the gap between the motor and research octane numbers the more stable the fuel is, especially for higher RPM cars like ours.
