Newb Question.

Now I'm a little confused. The TEMP gauge on my car ('93 talon) is for the coolant temperature right? Unless its for another gauge, but I'm getting different readings from that gauge and my logger. The gauge needle likes to move up alot, but on my logger the COOL is where it's normally at. So is my gauge messed up or is it not what I've always thought it was?

Re: Newb Question.

Are you looking at the temp gauge or the oil pressure gauge? The oil pressure gauge should move up and down a lot based on your RPM, the temp gauge should go to around half way and stay there. If the temp gauge is rising and lowering, well then you have something wrong.

Re: Newb Question.

The gauge on the dash and the coolant temps in the logger are read off of two different sensors.

Hmm Ecoli I never knew that. Which one does the stock gauge read off of and what does the logger read off of? Thermostat vs bottom of radiator? Which one is better to watch, becuase my logger gets up there on hot days.

Re: Newb Question.

The logger one is the sensor with 2 wires going to it. The dash one is single wire and like a spade connector. Both are on the thermostat housing. The dash one is not very linear. It will stay in the middle for a wide range of temps, too cold and too hot. The logger one is the important one, since it's the one that actually affects what the ECU will do as far as fuel and timing.

Re: Newb Question.

See, I didnt know that the logger and the TEMP gauge were reading off of two different sensors. I guess I'll just have to trust my logger over my TEMP gauge, then. I'll be getting a new headgasket and water pump soon, so I hope that'll drop my temps down back to NORMAL..haha.
