Garret turbo bolt on?

I've seen these around recently, and I guess there good too 450HP with good spool up, just wondering if anyones seen these in action, or knows more about them, cause for $600 new, it seems like a decent deal.

Re: Garret turbo bolt on?

You must be referring to the PTE SCM-50 trim style turbo's that bolt directly onto your stock manifold. I have one! It hasn't seen any action yet cuz i haven't started the car. Probably Saturday or Sunday I will. Very nice turbo and i've read numerous awesome reviews about it. It's nicname is the pump-gas king. Yes, PTE says it's good up to 450hp. As for a decent deal- Well it's good if you have every other mod to support it. For example: 50 trim for me was the equivalent of = 50 trim, new SS oil feed line, new return line, new slimline fans, bang the water pipe, grind the bolt nub on the compressor housing to prevent it from hitting the block coolant banjo bolt, 7 cm spacer gasket, intercooler rerouting/plumbing. This shit is bolt on to a point. I have all the other mods that are needed.

Good Luck!

If you're talking about Bullseye crap, skip it.

I second that-- Stick to the PTE turbos. I have read tons of bad about the Bullseye ones. Goto www.precisionturbo.net for the specs. I got my PTE 50 trim from ExtremePSI for like $830shipped a few months back. I got it internally gated with the divider cut. There is AGP turbo's but i don't know anything about them to give a review on it.

Re: Garret turbo bolt on?

I'm guessing those bolt up to the stock manifold then, based on the pic at their site. thats awsome, cause I can't afford to buy a turbo, and manifold and all.

Re: Garret turbo bolt on?

Just avoid ancient technology and reject parts. Old tech is fine, but some of the shit people are trying to sell now for cheap is ancient technology. A VCR from 1979 will still work, but do you really want to spend 75% of the cost of a modern device for something designed on an abacus? The T04E wheels are popular and were the shit until the GT stuff started popping up. Even the T04E stuff is quite old really, but some of the earlier wheels that people are selling now for dirt cheap are straight out of the Korean war era and meant from shit like John Deere Tractors.

Just avoid turbos with any mention of the following terms: XS Power, SS Autochrome, Stone Mountain Racing, V-trim, H3, S3-trim, Super 60, 19c, 17c, EBay.

Be wary of the following terms, even though they might be a perfectly fine turbo, just do some research to make sure you aren't getting something that isn't the best fit for a DSM or made out of reject parts: T04B, 57-trim.

It says nothing here about what turbo you are looking at. Saying Garret means absolutely nothing. Garret makes a ton of turbos. PTE makes turbos that are direct bolt ons. Because of this, they are more expensive that going out and getting a garret or turbonetics T3 where you will need a different manifold and O2 housing to run. Withought any link, it is like saying should I get this turbo and saying nothing about it. It could be too large to fit on your car. Post a link or something.

This one here, is kind of turbo I saw and why I asked, and now I notice many ancient technology terms I now know to avoid.
