Well tonight I finally made it to my girlfriends house in coon rapids to see her, we ate dinner and decided to go to hinkley to the casino for some fun/i'd show her how to play blackjack.
Well I lost $30 at the casino and decided to go home around 12:30am.
At about 1am I am passing the wyoming minnesota exit traveling along at 70mph (80mph actually) when I see a deer literaly pop up at the side of the road running across the road full speed.
Quickly I go into speed mode:
option 1, go behind it, great idea, except the deer just jumped over what looked like mangeled car parts (probably exhaust system), so that idea is no good.
option 2, brake and try to steer around it.
So full on the brakes I slide over to the left lane, still no room, go all the way over to the shoulder, realize im not gonna stop in time as hes now running at me, get on it, kick the back-end out (heal+toe+gas+turn wheel) to try to 'pivot' around him, at this point I am getting desperate..
I end up clipping him in a full out 45 degree slid, back tires on the grass, he hits my front corner, bounces off the windshield and lands in the ditch.
The impact nearly flipped the car, I felt it get REALLY LOSE, since i've actually practiced (beat on) the stealth with sliding I maintained control and slid into the right hand side of the ditch.
VERDICT:
managed to slow down from 70mph in 200 feet or less, pulling a 180.
front headlight, passanger side, GONE!
hood, destroyed.
right fender, crumpled.
wheels, bent.
something is also buldging into the passanger wheel well.
passanger mirror, missing.
as well as various tufts of fur, antler scraps on my hood, and my windshield is destroyed.
But I did take out a 8 point buck that probably dressed 240lbs, he was huge.
So the question is, what do I do? How the hell am I going to get it fixed when it has 97xxx on it, I owe $99xx and i am going to try to get it appraised today.
I owe approx $9900 on it, hopefully things will work out.
I dunno, I needed somewhere to vent, talk about up a creek without a paddle.
Thanks for the time.
Happy Halloween.

Sorry to hear about that. On my way up to LSPR rally, I stopped counting deer at about 60. And that was only from the middle of Wisconsin to about half way into Michigan!! I've always had close calls but never hit one yet (knock on wood).

You did have full coverage right? Find out what the insurance company will do. Otherwise, start looking at junkyards and used ads for parts that you need. You could do all the mechanical work your self and if the frame needs straightening, take it to a shop and have that part of it done. That's what we did on the Talon after it got t-boned. Then if anything needs painting, take it to a body shop to have it painted. It will end up costing far less money if you source the parts yourself and do the mechanical stuff yourself.

Glad to hear everyone made it out of the situation OK.

Wow Swanny that sucks dude. I suppose you were just about to put it away for the winter too? So did you have to get it towed all the way home from there, that is quite a ways. Them fucking deer just fucked up cars like ours and yours since they are so low. The deer just fly right up on top of the car practically. So have you gotten an estimate yet?

Damn man that fucking sucks. From the sounds of it they won't be enough damage to total it out so you can still keep the car. I have hit my fair share of deer as well and I know it sucks. Keep us posted and let me know if I can do anything to help.

That sucks. Hopefully it will not cost you too much to fix. Will your insurance cover it?

hey dood let me know if you need your car towed... we can rent a full trailer and i have my truck back too unfixed... but its all good.. destroy the trany and go get a new one.. NO ONE EVER GO TO DODGE OF BLAINE!!! They are pricks and aholes... off topic sorry..

If you owe 9900 on it, and by the sounds of it its most likely going to get totaled out.. which means insurance buys it for you, and you can buy it back from insurance.. and then you can fix it up take it to inspector and get full coverage on it again..

In most cases if the damage reaches 75% of the cars value, it will get totalled. If the frame/uni-body is still good, it could work to your advantage if ot totals. Take the $$$, keep the car and fix it.

percentages differ depending on the insurance company.

That really sucks dude!! I am betting that your insurance will fix it (I assume you have full coverage) sinc the car is still worth over 10 grand.

i talked to the appraiser, i told them i was offered 12k cash for it, she took notes on that, they will look at local ones for sale to see what the borderline 'max damage' is for totaling.
the windshield, hood, fender, light assembly, corner light, bumper skin are destroyed.
the roof is scratched from antlers (he went up and over).
it will be towed to a body shop on monday (shawn's dads place) and the appraiser will look at it tuesday.
thanks for the reply's guys, i'll keep everyone posted.

Be happy you've got the scratches on the roof and not on the dash or door pannels. I've heard so pretty crazy stories of deer coming through the winshield and kicking the passangers.

VW Shawns out in Rockford? They did a wicked job on S&L's Golf.

Sorry to hear it Josh! I had my first Talon totaled after I hit my 2nd deer with it, so I feel for ya. That is the main reason why I am so hardcore about deer hunting. I will shoot one in 2 weeks and dedicate it to the stealth!!

well i have pictures, is there a location I can upload and host them at?
the pictures don't show much damage, it'll come down to what insurance thinks, it will really depend on what percentage is consitered 'totaled'
Overall its just surface damage, probably needs alignment, frame rack very slim, and it would be very little, if even.
If everything works out, i'll get paint, cf hood, and new rims.
or the car fixed would be great .
thanks for the support guys and gals.
jet, I just want an 8 point bucks antlers mounted, cause I couldn't get the ones off the one i hit (no saw).
Chris, sorry to hear about your loss, what a bad weekend for the group.
