I finally sold the DSM and the Audi and consolidated. I regret not making a project thread for the Brian Spilner DSM and will not make the same mistake with the evo. I'm guessing if I would have had a project thread it wouldn't have ended up with a bodykit or lime green. I've definitely grown up a bit since I got into DSMs so I'm going to do what I can to keep the evo classy.

It was actually a lot harder than I initially hoped it would be to find a clean low mile evo! I ended up getting a 2003 Rally red VIII from wisconsin. All I've been doing to it since i've picked it up is basic maintenance and cleaning things up.

I plan on posting pics as I make changes and asking advice before I make purchases.

I picked it up with a little over 45k miles and the car did come with some basic bolt ons..
Shep stage 3 transfercase with LSD
Tomei 7960 w\ MAP ported hotside
Map o2 housing external dump (I actually hate the external dump)
turbosmart compgate40 (Needs a stiffer spring)
Precison 1200cc Injectors
Synapse syncronic bov
Buscher racing full exhaust with test pipe and down pipe V-BAND
act 2900 street disc clutch with light weight flywheel
Gsc s1 cams
Injen upper and 1 piece lower intercooler pipes( having a hard time removing water spots on these)
Injen intake
Hallman MBC in cab cable driven
Ets 4 inch intercooler anodized black
Defi gauges (boost, oil pressure, EGT)
LC-1 wideband
Solid roll motor mounts

Came with a CF hood

I really didn't like the look of the silver mesh so i painted it black. looks a lot cleaner imo

It's wingless... and i'm debating getting a wing. On the plus side it does have a CF trunk, but there is not a spring and it wont stay open on it's own. Kind of irritating.

"MITSUBISHI" was in rough shape

$3.84 fix from walmart

Exhaust heat shield looked pretty crappy also...

I had some left over high temp engine enamel.

cleaned up nice

The rear brembos were pretty faded but I managed to restore the clear coat. and the wheels are missing the center caps

Front calipers are as clean as the day they were new

Other than that the car is pretty clean! I've basically fallen in love with it.

If you wing it I'd just sell the carbon lid or trade it for a matching color lid with wing. at least put a lip on the trunk though.

Dude, nice! 45k on the clock what a find! Good solid setup, get it to shane for a tune on corn and just rip it. I say keep it wingless, I dig the red + CF look, very clean!

Only thing I think you should consider, ditch the blue in the seats. Black fabric paint or something, nice mod right up your alley.

Already talked to shane about the current tune and it's already burning corn lol but i will look into the fabric paint...

Car looks great man. I'm interested to check this thing out sometime.

I did the fabric paint/dye this weekend and it turned out pretty well. I'll have some pics up on Evomn in a day or two.

I might be interested in swapping that trunk for a RR trunk and wing.

Looks super nice! I'd agree with the blue seats looks kind of weird in a red car, evo 9 seats would be amazing

Looks great. I'd leave it wingless myself. Some Evo 7 style taillights would look good I think too.

I agree with the VII tails. They look awesome on pretty much any color combo. And get some springs come spring! Look into GTWorx and Swift.

Very nice and I like the cleanup you've been doing already. I vote wingless and painting the hood and trunk to match.

I might be selling my GTWorx springs and MR Bilsteins in spring; if I know ahead of time that someone is interested, it might just be enough to 100% convince me to sell.

For seats, check out www.CipherAuto.com. I don't have experience with them but they look nice and price is incredibly reasonable.

I'm actually really interested in the idea of dying the middle of the recaros. I wouldn't want other than oem seats so aftermarket is out of the picture. I did like the 9 seats I had in my dsm but i've had those for 3 years and i'm sick of them. Being that it's a red car I do like the idea of black over blue. I think the black will make it look really clean but i'm afraid that it looks a little plain....

What are your thoughts on red? I think it will retain the sporty look and flow with the car, and if it's horrible I can always go to black. Idk if it would be possible to come back from black.

I figure If i really mess up the seats.... I could just pick up some UK version seats. Other countries really do get a lot more options... GRR US.

These would look crazy even if i just died the back seat black.

These would be a second choice

But FIRST i'm going to try and dye/paint it.
