subaru tranny in dsm????

ok i went to one of those rice killer meets and some guy started talking to me about my car....whatever. But then he started going on and on about how I should swap a subaru transmission/drivetrain into my car because it would hold up better, and all i needed to do this would be some sort of block off plate or something. Anyways has anybody heard of this? Or is this guy as crazy as i think he sounds.

Hence why anyone that knows anything doesn't go to Rice Killer meets.

Re: subaru tranny in dsm????

Well anything is possible with the right amount of money, but if any of you have seen why the wrx/sti's will never handle as good as the Evo's can is because of how far ahead of the shock tower the engine sits. Subaru likes to think that by having the H pattern motor as low in the engine bay this will make all your handling dreams come true, but the fact of the matter is they have way too much weight hanging too far out there which from my experience of owning a WRX and attempting to make it handle is nearly impossible.
Just look at cars like the M3 and RX7 and other such amazing handling RWD cars, the motors are almost completely equal to or rearward of the front shock tower. So now imagine a heavy ass motor such as the iron block 4g hanging out that far and up high like the inline motor is. Retarded.
But on the other hand there is just the chance that the guy already knew this and wanted to know just how dumb you were and if you would sit and agree with him that its a good idea. People do this kind of thing at cars shows and meets just to mess with people.
My $.02.

You sir, got punked. Even the Subaru fags know their drivetrain is glass compared to a Mitsu's.

Besides the fact that it wouldn't work, Mitsu's drivetrain is stronger.

Re: subaru tranny in dsm????

LOL, this guy is probably posting somewhere: "Guess what I got this DSM'er to believe!!!" haha, either that or the guy is a total tard which wouldn't be too hard to believe either coming from one of those meets.

IF it would work, the car would have to be converted to RWD amongst other things. From what I hear, the STi 6 speeds (at least in the 04-06, not sure what other years it was used?) are actually pretty solid, which may be the reason they go for $2,000+ used.

I would take an STi 6 speed over an Evo 6 speed... just saying
