Short route or Long route?
I purchased a full long route fmic from a personal seller off ebay a while back and when I finally started putting it on to my surprise the pipes didn't match up and I ended up a pipe short. I guess that's ebay for ya. Anyways here is what my piping looks like now.
I can't decide weather I should get a pipe made to replace my smic or if I should just get a custom short route made. I am a college kid and I'm on somewhat of a budget. If anybody would pitch in and let me know if it's worth it or not that would be fantastic!

WTF? Just order some bends off Summit or Jegs at a minimum.

Re: Short route or Long route?
I said that the kit I baught was a pipe short. And as you can tell by the kid passed out in the corner, it was getting pretty late and I was leaving for college the next morning. So we decided to ghetto rig it so I could drive home and leave it in my garage where it is now. The smic was just thrown on there so I could get home. My question is, do you guys think it's worth it to pay the extra cash and go short route or should I just get a pipe made to replace the smic? I know that the short route means better spooling and cooler air, but is it worth the extra money?

Re: Short route or Long route?
Its not a huge deal, just get a pipe fabbed up to replace the sidemount.
I'd be more worried about getting an air filter on there.

Re: Short route or Long route?
If you can find a short route set for under $100 I'd say go for it. Otherwise just grab a cheap bend or two and pop it on.

Oh the filter is defiantly on there. It was just off so we could have more room.

Re: Short route or Long route?
That's awesome! It reminds me of the Dahlback golf. 5 cylinders, a big turbo, two I/C's and 1000 awhp.
So, you need one more cyl. and a few more hp.

Re: Short route or Long route?
Anyone have a pic of a short route setup utilizing his style IC? I can only find one with an IC with the piping adapters facing back towards the radiator. I'm curious to see a setup go through on the sides of the radiator and hook into such a large IC with the endtank adapters facing the sides.

Re: Short route or Long route?
Just shorten that 90* on the passenger side, and get it to point up so it goes over the tranny, instead of making go to the stock sidemount side. I'd say just get yourself a couple bends though to replace where that stock ic is, and call it done.

Re: Short route or Long route?
Yea I think I'll just leave the long route and get a pipe to replace the smic. I'm planning on checking out a few local shops to get some quotes.

Re: Short route or Long route?
We'll I went to LSE and they gave me a good price so I got rid of my smic and stuck with the long route. I'll post pics up tomorrow! No more dual intercoolers for me!

Re: Short route or Long route?
I dont think you can use a short route for that IC, its too big, i have that same one. i did all the pipes myself and went long route. i just looked at where i wanted to route the pipes and what bends i would need, then went to a local exhaust shop got the bends i needed, cut them and welded them and i was good to go. Then i did the same on a buddies car that got an ebay kit (missing 2 bends GG)

Re: Short route or Long route?
Haha thanks guys. Yea i didn't get around to pics today/yesterday (it was my birthday). But I'll get to it asap. And i'll post this in the review forum as well, but ill say it here too, LSE did a great job on makin these pipes! They did it in half the time I asked and did a great job. The guys there are nice and don't give you too much shit even if you have 2 intercoolers haha.
