Welding tabletop
My wife and I constructed a workbench today, but I need to be able to weld on it, I was thinking about picking up a sheet of steel for the tabletop.
I couldn't find any at menards or home depot, so anyone have any ideas?
I am thinking discount steel, not sure where else to try and look.
tabletop is 3ft x 7ft
Also anyone have idea about thickness? I am thinking a 1/4" thick piece should do the trick.

Re: Welding tabletop
Discount Steel. See if they have any "throws" or scrap pieces that will fit your needs. Generally the price per pound is lower. Also, they will usually charge "per cut" to cut it to size, but some times they don't.

Some gangsta nearly stabbed me at Menard's. Did you happen to see him when you were there? He was Brown.

Re: Welding tabletop
^ LMAO
I have a bench you can have if you would be willing to pick it up in St. Louis Park. It was in the basement of the house when I bought it and seems like a decent piece.

Motorcycle cop pulls up next to me on UNI and says "Want to race?"
Me- "I don't think you would stand a chance."
Cop says "probably not" and drives off.

Re: Welding tabletop
1/4 inch will be way thicker than you need. 1/8 inch will be plenty thick if you have it screwed to a piece of plywood. Discount Steel will probably be your best bet.
