The Spazmobile
Well, under pressure from Scheides, I'm going to post a build thread. I probably should've had one a while back, but it's whatever. I guess that means I need to go over history a bit.
Bought the car on April 19th, 2008. 156k on the clock, completely stock. The reason for purchase was for autox and a better DD.
See: ugly wheels, boring and stock.
I ended up blowing up the stock T25 in Fall '08, and replaced it with a small 16G. I have no pics of this or the install. Later on, my stock BCS seized (or something), and I picked up an MBC. Again, no pics.
The car then stayed this way for a while, until a piece of asphalt jumped out in front of me and destroyed one of my wheels. This caused me to get these:
Then came the drop, on Asshanson's old Tokico Blues with Red lowering springs:
And now, as of last week, I have an FMIC, which is the real reason for the posting of this thread. Nothing special, and it's not huge, but it does the job and fits the bumper quite well:
Piping is routed as it is due to my j-pipe pointing toward the passenger side, I'll be picking one up that faces the driver's side and re-routing it soon:
And along with the piping, I also got a Greddy RS BOV, probably a little overkill for my application, but it sounds... interesting, and god knows I'm an attention whore:
And that's where things stand today.

Re: The Spazmobile
Coming along nicely considering your budget !! All ya need now is some cams, maybe some 264's or a 264/272 combo. I think that would work pretty good with this setup you have so far.
How's that strut tower rust? get that fixed?

LOL. If it walks it walks and I get a 6-bolt, if not, that's fine too.

Tell me about it. The lacking throttle response with the long route leaves a bit to be desired, but overall I'm happy with it. I'll get a new j-pipe and reroute it sometime soon.

They seem to transfer weight and plant the tires very well compared to stock on the street, so I'm hoping they can do the same at lower speeds in a more technical setting. The real test is going to be Marshalltown next season, I'm hoping to finally be able to beat Matt's Civic.

Yep. The car's running fine vented, but I'll only run it like that until the recirc fitting for the BOV arrives.

Re: The Spazmobile
And all of it 2 days before the cruise.
That was NOT fun. Though I did get to beat shit with a mallet, which felt pretty good.

You might want to look into boost leaks or tunning. they did a long debate where they did all the math on the long route and with all the extra piping and it was only a fraction of a tenth of a second. nothing that could actually be felt. I have longer piping and a much larger FMIC then you and i dont have any problems with throttle response.
Glad to see the build though. Lets see bay and interior pics

Yeah, I agree with this. All I could do was laugh when a friend of mine, trying to get his g60 corrado to work, said that you needed some exact length of vacuum tube to make something work right. If it wasn't 3" or whatever, it would read wrong. The time it takes for a volume like that to become pressurized is so minuscule that you'd never notice.
Anyway, how could throttle response get worse with more air volume in the pipes unless the tune is goofy?

Along with a lot of others on a fmic. Have you done a boost leak test on it?
