4G63/4 Rod and Piston Differences

Quick question, are I think the 4G63/4 pistons are interchangeable, but are the 4G63/4 rods? Or are the rods different lengths. Will I need 4G64 specific rods?

Rods are the same, pistons are not.

For one thing the 64 is a bigger bore, so the piston is bigger.

I will explain...

The pistons from your 4g63 will not work because the bore of the 4g63 and the 4g64 are different.

4g63 85mm
4g64 86.5mm

So no... the 4g63 will just slap around in there

You will have to buy aftermarket pistons for the 4g64 if you want to do the hybrid combo

If you want to do the stroker combo (4g63 block/ 4g64 crank) you will have to buy aftermarket pistons as well

but what are you trying to do is the question...

4G64 block, stock 4G64 crank, 2G rods, not sure on the pistons yet.

Is it a 7 bolt 4g64?
I usually deal with just the 6 bolts

If it is just a stock 7bolt 4g64 can't you just slap a 4g63 DOHC cylinder head and be done with it? (granted the pistons wouldn't be as strong and other stuff but it would get you by)

Also you might as well go with aftermarket rods. Otherwise you will have to machine the 7 bolt rods for aftermarket pistons (which would cost you and won't hold as much power as aftermarket)

you have to put pistons on a 7bolt 2.4 they were sohc motors from spyder's and galant's. It would be the same bottom end that I will be putting in the evo.
I am using ross 2.4 dohc pistons and eagle 2.0 rods in it
