Not sure if anyone's seen this yet, but it looks to be a pretty damn useful tool. Works on all 1g and 2g cars with or without eprom.

Check it out at ECU+

It's not really that expensive when you look at all you get with it though. It's only about $100 more than an safc2 and if you've already got a laptop then you're set. Also a lot cheaper than dsmlink and ems.

Josh, looks like your idea on altering cam and crank signals for ignition timing purposes must work.

But DSMLINK is a lot simpler to install and not much more than that!
Just think about it, Way too many things to go wrong and you are still dealing with another piggy back system.

Just go with whats proven!... DSM link is probably the next best thing to stand alone. With standalone you have other functionality and features.. but dsmlink is probably more than enough for 75% of us right here.. except a few

I will eventually go with DSM link mostly because its easier than a full standalone.

But if i end up getting into this more i will most likely going with AEM or EMS and have it do pretty much everything it can... but that would be down the road.. way down the road..

I know that DSMLink has more features and options, BUT not everyone has an eprom ecu, nor the big dollar to get one these days. For still being a piggyback, it's the next best thing a person without eprom can get...

you know that you can send your ECU to get it socketed for only extra $40?

Enes, I know you can send your ecu in to get socketed. You could even have Eric do it for much cheaper, BUT your ecu must have an existing eprom chip in it in order to use dsmlink. Not every ecu has an eprom in which case you can't just have it sent in to be socketed (that is why people sell eprom ecu's for rediculous amounts). All it means to be socketed is to desolder the old eprom chip, and then solder in a socket so the chip can be installed into that and easily be removed over and over again. If you take an eprom ecu and a non-eprom ecu the boards are physically different.

Looks very nice. Not a bad option for some of us 1g'ers without an Eprom ECU. But it looks as though there's no knock logging?

Kinda a fancy AFC/ITC combo with some logging. It still is fooling the ECU like an AFC does, so it's not anything near the level of a DSMLink.

Yeah, I noticed the no knock logging too. Still gonna buy DSMlink but this thing looks like it could be a nice option for 1g owners.

I JUST went through this whole Eprom ECU DSMLINK Drill, and here are the FACTS!

1.DSMLINK ROCKS, and is worth ever cent!

2.You must have a EPROM ECU out of EITHER a FWD OR AWD 1995 <ONLY> manual OR A/T CAR! 1995 and the big "E" are the only key words!

3.This ECU will have a big "E" in the lower right hand corner, if its the right model.

4.I got my ECU here local, at Briteway for only $200.00 local, try car-part.com , do a search, most places will ship direct with a credit card!

5. After you get this Eprom ECU, It will have to have a new socket installed, that will hold the DSMLINK EPROM CHIP, some folks charge $20-50 to socket it, buts it's really your call.

6: DSMLINK READS KNOCK ON 2G! This ECU+ or a a SAFC2 WON'T. PERIOD! That's how I tune, read knock, A/F, Timing, & 02, <and MUCH, MUCH MORE if you want to> That and watch my external fail safe EGT temp gauge and push her hard! Cause now you can Push & Pull your fuel AND TIMING SETTINGS, PER RPM BAND!

7: The setup is EASY, better than a SAFC, and WAY better than a AEM! You'll be up and running in 20 minutes, with any luck!

I have had my DSMLINK for about a month now, and have got MUCH more power out of my car using it, and I'm just starting tuning!

I'm also learning alot about tuning from Dave and Tom up on the DSMLINK board, as DSMLINK's Tech support is TOP NOTCH!

I'm not sure about this here new gizzmo, but I KNOW DSMLINK works well and the # on my box is V2-2297, so I'm not alone!

Good Luck......

Howie

I wouldn't say dsmlink is better than an AEM EMS. DSMLink may be easier than an AEM for the average tuner but that doesn't make it better. An AEM EMS lets you do EVERYTHING where DSMLink lets you do a few nice things.

What I said the SETUP was easier, and better ,<less hassle>, Keyword, setup!

Yes agreed, if you want to go "all the way", AEM has much more flexiblity, but is also much more difficult to setup.
