Some issues I've ran into.

Hooked my 1g up to a datalogger and went off to do some pulls. Now I thought my car was running really rich, but today when it was hooked up, the duty cycle was normal, the problem was the timing was all over. Like from 17 at idle to 45 at times at WOT..so I'm a newb to any sort of tuning, what's my deal? And how do I fix it? (full mod list in my project thread).

Timing should be all over the place. There is a 16x12 timing map that it uses for a starting point based on RPM vs load.

Re: Some issues I've ran into.

Alright, I also have knock, at one time it hit 29, Idk if my crappy Chinese 16g is spooling right, it seems like boost cuts out, it's getting plenty of fuel, but doesn't pull all of the way through. Also there are no boost leaks, just fixed all of them.

Re: Some issues I've ran into.

What are your A/F ratios, ignition timing, rpm, and boost when it knocks?

Rpm=3687, injd=30.4%, knck=26, tps=39.8%, map=2.77 bar, tima=19 degrees, injp=9.9ms. Thats what my data logger read. Boost is stock, just off wastegate.

Re: Some issues I've ran into.

Do you have a wideband to read the A/Fs? Why is the TPS at only 39.8%, does it goto 90%+?

When I got another big spike like that, the numbers were around the same.

Re: Some issues I've ran into.

Don't have a wideband, it's on the to buy list. The tps at one time was at 99.6%, at 5093rpms, 70.3% injd, with no knock.

Yea when it's floored, it doesn't seem to knock.

Re: Some issues I've ran into.

Wideband would shine a whole new light on the issue. I get knock under partial throttle, but my fuel presure is set wrong, i have to adjust way too much for the SAFC compaired to the injectors. Have it set about 4-5psi above stock, and running a 255 on top of it. Figured that out today while watching a movie. Kinda hit me all of a sudden, but without that wideband you don't know what else may be contributing. Maybe your running super lean due to something, or maybe your not.

For an example i got 1 count of knock twice today under partial throttle and with my AF at about 10.0-10.5.

Re: Some issues I've ran into.

1-2 counts coming and going is often nothing, just engine noise.

Re: Some issues I've ran into.

Yea I get the random little knocks, but there seems to be a running theme with the mid throttle knock around 3000rpm...I gotta get a wideband..

Re: Some issues I've ran into.

I think i finished my gas tune today well enough for now. Tomorrow i'll get some e-85.

Keep it under 3-4 and it's ok, i keep getting the mid range like you are, but it's mostly engine noise.
