launching

Heres my problem guys, it's hard to get it into 2nd gear when I'm launching. I'm AWD, still on the T25 and launching from 5500rpm. Normal driving, I have no problem going into 2nd gear. Anyone know how to fix this?

Re: launching

When you say "hard to get into gear", what do you mean? There are a couple things that might give you trouble, so if you can provide a little more info that would be good. Does it just not go into gear? Does it grind? Have you changed the trans fluid recently? New clutch? Anything changed recently? Just bought the car?

Re: launching

It doesn't grind or anything, just can't seem to put it into 2nd. After rpm drops to like 5k then it'll go in. Clutch is was done about 2 yrs ago by the previous owner, I believe its a ACT2600 and fluid about 1.5 yr. Had link put in during the winter but never launch it until recently.

Re: launching

The clutch might not be totally disengaging at high RPMs.

Re: launching

I will try shifting sooner, see if that will work. Thanks!

Re: launching

6k is pretty much the limit to rev to on a stock setup. Power drops off pretty quickly above that.

Re: launching

It's usually worth reving 1st out to redline though even with the 14B.

2G. T-25. Still worth it? I wouldn't say so, my butt dyno could feel the power drop off when I still had mine on.

Re: launching

Yea, maybe not with the T25. But with a modded 14B it is usually like 7300 1st to 2nd, maybe around 6500-7000 2nd to 3rd and 6000 or earlier 3rd to 4th. Depends on the power band though. You can plug your numbers across your powerband along with your gear ratios into shift calculators to find what RPM to shift at in each gear to hold the most power. Turbo cars a bit different thoguh, since the lower the gear, the longer it takes to spool, so often you want to rev it out higher. A lot of people assume(seems to mostly be V8 guys) though that once you hit peak power that you should shift, when it's better top ride the powerband down some so that you come into a good part of the powerband in the next gear.
