Need a pic of the FIAV blocked off
Can someone post a pic of how to block off your FIAV with rtv? I've searched dsmtalk, tuners and here and I can't find any pics of where to put the rtv. All I need is to see it and I can go from there.

Re: Need a pic of the FIAV blocked off
Why would you do this?
You would need a plate to block it off.

Re: Need a pic of the FIAV blocked off
All I wanna do is block off the fiav cause on my daily it idle surges as it warms up. Then once its warm its perfect. I don't wanna start a discussion all I want is to know where to put the rtv. I read alot of people doing it this way but there all older threads and the pics dont work anymore.

Are you sure it is the Fast Idle Air Valve and not the EGR valve?
http://tinyurl.com/adjuhp 2nd link down, you find this gem.

There that took about 2 minutes. (post 1 for pics, post 10 for a breakdown on how it works).

Re: Need a pic of the FIAV blocked off
Yeah haha. Just got done blocking the holes with rtv. Gonna let it sit overnight to dry and put it back together in the morning. Hopefully this cold start surge will be gone!

Re: Need a pic of the FIAV blocked off
I just did the exact same thing last night. I've been running with a blocked off FIAV/ISC for a few years now, but have decided I want an ISC again. I just took some scrap sheet aluminum and cut it out a block of plate with the holes in it for the ISC, like the one pictured in the thread Swanny linked to. I personally am not just shoving a bunch of RTV in it. Why not just make a block off plate?

You can't scrounge up an empty pop can and a pair of scissors?

Re: Need a pic of the FIAV blocked off
Maybe if I went out to the dumpster. Haha. I'll try this and see if it works. If not, I'll get a pop can.

Re: Need a pic of the FIAV blocked off
You should have at least used some JB weld. I don't see that RTV holding up too well.

Re: Need a pic of the FIAV blocked off
I didn't like the blocked-off FIAV on my talon, made it a pain to start in winter sometimes. I would have liked to have the ISC in the car at least to help with cold starts so I would have to hold the accelerator down to keep it from dying.

Re: Need a pic of the FIAV blocked off
You can do a FIAV bypass without losing the ISC. I wouldn't recommend removing the entite lower section of the TB and losing the ISC or doing a completer block off plate. I have been running a JB Weld version of the FIAV bypass for many years. Works great, no stalling, no idle changes when it fully warms up and no having to hold my foot on the gas to keep it running when I first start it.
Here is a pic of a proper FIAV bypass plate. http://www.jmfabrications.com/site/c...fa7e959a4b.jpg
You can buy that one, make a plate like it or fill in the areas that are blocked off with JB Welds.

Re: Need a pic of the FIAV blocked off
Yeah I only blocked off the FIAV part of it. I would never get rid of the ISC.

Re: Need a pic of the FIAV blocked off
Sweet! Now it idle surges once it's warm! Now the surge is opposite from before.. Time for a boost leak test. Too bad I don't have a compressor here to do it. I'll have to do it when I come back home to MN.

Re: Need a pic of the FIAV blocked off
Ohm out your ISC motor, to make sure both coils are working.
