Re: question for the 3s guys

the elevation change will have an effect. coming down should make it run better due to more oxygen i believe.

Re: question for the 3s guys

Is that pump or race gas? what is he using for engine management?

Its doable on pump i wouldn't doubt it too much.

Re: question for the 3s guys

Those injectors seem kind of small.

I guess you will have to test drive it, should give you a good idea on how much power it is making.

"550cc fuel injectors, Apexi SAFC" I doubt it's at 450 with no timing control.

The engine management would be the SAFC.

We have 6 injectors. That's like 825's in a DSM.

Has a HKS VPC too. Old school, but works good.

As for making 450, it's debatable but not out of the question. The DR heads are a big help. Also if it was dyno'd at altitude with corrections, it will bump the #'s a little.

Yea I guess that makes sense, but you also have 6 cylinders. But I guess with two extra cylinders you don't need big injectors to make that kind of power.

Re: question for the 3s guys

I know for that every 1000 feet in elevation you climb, you lose 3% of your engines output capacity, and vice versa for descending in elevation, so you gain 3% every 1000 feet. So you should get a good bump in power going down 5000 feet; roughly 12-15% or so gain. But I don't know how they compensate for a tune. I'm almost positive you will have to get it re-tuned when you bring it back to your elevation. Atmospheric pressure @ 7000 feet is 11 PSI and @ 2000 feet it's around 13.5 PSI or so, and that's a good difference.

Just out of curiosity, are you buying the car somewhere in Wyoming?

Any of the tuners here know what the deal is with getting a re-tune?

Re: question for the 3s guys

what im saying is i think he got it in wisconsin and it was tuned. then took it to laramie without retuning therefore running rich the whole time. so maybe returning to a normal elevation will bring it back closer to that optimal range.
