BOV on a N/A CAR?
Ok... im baffled... there is this guy that i work with and he has a 420a neon, with basic mods, CAI, exhaust, igntion, camgears, you know basics... anyways, he pulled up to work the other day and he was roddin down the road, and i heard a bov... i was like what the heck, hes not boosted... anyways, he says that he put a bov on his intake piping and set it really soft, so is will unload, so it sounds like he is boosted... i was like "bs dude", thats not even possible, and it would suck because if you could you would loose power... then he was like, "no man, i did it." he popped his hood, and sure enough he had a turboX bov mounted right onto his CAI piping, but he was still n/a, no FMIC, no SMIC, no Turbo, just a bov.... can somebody explain this to me... some other guy that i work with said that the neon has a custom horn that makes the bov sound.... soooo...... wtf? im lost.... and i feel like im getting dumber, working with these idiots!

Re: BOV on a N/A CAR?
It will not see any pressure. At WOT on an N/A car they will see 0 vacuum. If anything, if the BOV is some how opening, its sucking air in.

Re: BOV on a N/A CAR?
BOVs open under heavy vacuum, so it will function on an NA car, just like it would on a turbo cars, but I don't know what it would sound like, since you don't quite have the same amount of pressure built up waiting to be released.

Re: BOV on a N/A CAR?
Sadly I had a kid tell me he wanted to put a bov on his jeep just for the sound. And just the other day my buddy tried to tell me the bov had no purpose but to make the sound. People are just getting dumber these days it seems.

Yes it would open up, but it would end up venting the CAI into atmosphere, which would be virtually no difference. It wouldn't make any noise. I bet he has an electric BOV thing too.
