1. i needed to modify the rear trailing arm. the part that was rubbing was the pinch weld. i searched around and saw that people have ground them down before, so i set off to do the same. i was able to remove about 4mm.
2. up next was the front. i run a ground control/koni yellow setup. this left the stock spring perches all in the way. rather than getting a full coilover setup, i decided to just trim the perch off.
NOW ON TO THE WHEEL!!!!!
what did i decide to go with? i decided that if i was going to spend the money, get something light. my first choice were some te37's...something light...but a bit out of my budget. then i remembered a good alternative... Enkei RPF-1.
specs: 17x9 +45. silver finish. 15.9lbs x Falken Azenis RT-615 255/40/17
want to see pics now? not so fast...after trying them on again..i decided that a +40 would be the best, but enkei did not make this size. they have actually discontinued the +45 now as well. i went and grabbed a set of 5mm spacers for both the front and the rear.
both the front and rear has about 2mm of clearance before the spacers. effectively the car now has 7mm of clearance with the suspension both front and rear.
i guess i should post up some pics now huh
The wheels were mounted last night and these were the only pics i got before it got dark. I since lowered both the front and rear. I will post pics of it as soon as I get a chance to shoot the car tomorrow. The rear tucks fine but i need camber plates for the front, which sits at about 0* camber with the eibach camber bolts in. no fender rolling necessary and NO RUBBING!!!
i hope this helps people trying to find the right offset to tuck 17x9's with 255's.

Re: 9 Inches Wide on a 1g
Why? If it was a track car than needed wider wheels I would think it would have better suspension. If it was a drag car that needed traction, you wouldn't use 17" wheels.

Way to dig up the dead. However this thread prompted me to get this size wheels, but mine stick out a bit. Gotta work on that this spring.

wide tires are hawt :P
FYI Evo8's and 9's can run 9.5" wide wheels by just rolling the fender a tad in back!

Probably, you don't have the rear swing arm to deal with.

Stock struts = bouncy bouncy bouncy.
Or is he saying that the koni yellow setup just has the perch in the stock position.

Cheetah blaster FTW! Or a rubber mallet and some elbow grease!
I think it'd look nice with a bit wider of a tire. But damn, I love the wide wheels.
