F*cking Ice Strikes Again!

So I get a call from my brother today, and while his car was parked in the parking lot at work, a huge chunk of ice fell off the roof of his company's roof and smashed his windshield and dented/scratched the hood and both fenders....probably the a-pillar too.

His boss gave him a run-around about paying for it, saying it was an act of god (they're a florida company apparently, they like to use this) and that there was nothing they could do about it.

My bro has glass coverage so his windshield will get replaced immediately regardless, but does anyone know if there's some sort of ordinance or statute that requires property owners to clean off their roofs if there is danger of snow/ice hurting someone or damaging something below it? He's worked for this company for like 4 years now and they basically told him 'too bad!' and were very unapologetic about what happened.

Ass holes.

He'll have to claim it on his insurance, his insurance company may know better on how to handle this. If all else fails, he might have to take the company to small claims court.

He should just claim it on his insurance. Then the insurance companys lawyers can figure out whos at fault. It shouldn't afect your bros rates at all since it wasn't his fault

Think of it like this

What if a person was standing there instead of the car?

Who would win the case then?

What?! Apples to oranges man - You can't compare property to a life, it's a completely different ballgame.

Re: F*cking Ice Strikes Again!

Let the auto insurance company figure it out. Typically the company would not be at fault, you can only prepare for so much.
